Good beginners rower for a low price
First rower I ever purchased so I don't have anything to compare it to. But, it's smooth and easy to use. It was easy to assemble right out of the box and I was pleasantly surprised how solid it was for a cheaper machine. The digital display works well and the flywheel doesn't make too much noise (although I do have earbuds in while using it). The handle could be a little wider and the seat could be a bit more comfortable. It's plenty long for me to get full extension, but I'm only 5'6". If you're well over 6' tall, you may want to check and see it's long enough for you. But I've used it several times for about 30 - 40 minutes and I get a good workout. There's no way to adjust tension other than to row faster, so don't expect much more than a good cardio routine or to get your heartrate ... Solid, Good Price, Decent Display
I bought this rower because I cannot go to the gym to use the Concept 2. I was afraid it would be flimsy compared to the Concept, but was pleasantly surprised: Excellent quality. There are some features missing, but don't forget this rower is at least $1000.00 less than the ones at gyms! It is shorter, the wheel cannot be adjusted for resistance, the wheel has no cover, so you get the wind, and it does not show wattage and other info important to serious rowers. I can see time, distance, & calorie count. which is enough for me. My goal is to keep in shape through the covid 19 closures. But this will make a good supplement to the gym which is a 1/2 hour away. I did need help from more mechanically minded relatives to assemble it, but by following the direction order, there were no ... This is a great beginner machine. There is no adjustment for tension on the pull or seat. It still provides a good workout for cardio. With a tensioner for the seat it would better. Very little leg work with this machine. Which could be viewed in 2 different ways. Quality parts make the seat assembly roll very smooth and fluid. Or it just doesn't provide a good lower body workout. The fan is quite noisy. All in all 8.5 of 10This is a great beginner machine. There is no adjustment for tension on the pull or seat. It's redifining my whole approach to fitness.
I've used this daily for 30 min since I purchased it nearly 2 weeks ago. At first I agreed with other reviews that you don't get a good leg workout since there is no resistance mechanism for the seat/slider. However, I had some resistance tubing lying around that I attached to the underside of the seat to give more tension when pushing off. I think I will remove that, though, as it's taking away from some of the hamstring effort of pulling the seat forward. Realistically, it is how hard you push with your legs that drives the entire rowing motion to a harder level. Try pushing hard for a minute and you will start to feel a burn. I see the whole exercise as something you build to, at a pace that prevent injury and, by default of keeping at over the weeks, you will be rowing harder and ... I already see dramatic results and my entire upper body feels like it's becoming a strong unit. I do 50 pushups a day, just getting back into his whole exercise thing, and before rowing it felt like just holding the plank position was tiring. Now, I feel like someone else is doing the pushups while I watch. The strength in my back and shoulders has made pushups easier than I can ever remember. So, that's all well and good but can probably be said of using any rowing machine. But this is the only I've ever used so I cannot compare. It is well-built. The only down-side so far is that the pedal pads, which can be adjusted to accommodate different foot sizes, had to have additional holes drilled to be able to comfortably support my 9.5 US foot size. Also, the strap that runs across the top of the foot needs to be padded or wear shoes with a lot of padding over the top of the foot. The rowing motion feels very organic and you see results right away. I chose to do an additional 15 minutes on my elliptical machine afterwards just to stretch out my leg muscles and round the whole experience off.
