Editorial Reviews
Review
"This is the first gluten-free cookbook I've used where the recipes turn-out the first time you try them." --Chef Kimberley N.
"What a fabulous cookbook! The ingredients are items I had in my pantry. I really like a cookbook that doesn't call for strange items like quince jelly that I'm sure no one really has on thier shelves. Thanks so much." --Judy of Virginia

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2008Jennifer Cinquepalmi is not, as far as I know, a professional chef. The cookbook, quite refreshingly, reads much like a church or community cookbook: The recipes are simple, as are the directions. While I cannot vouch for the main courses that contain meat (I'm a vegetarian), I can tell you that the baked goods alone are worth the price of the book. Especially convenient is the recipe for the "Individual Freezer Pizza Crusts." The crusts taste great, stay crisp, and are so easy to make. As for the quick breads, cookies & cakes, she does not shy away from sugar or shortening, so the occasional treat, really is a treat.
I will mention this book is for those that have gluten-intolerance as their sole food issue. While Cinquepalmi does offer some substitutions for eggs and only a very few recipes contain corn or nuts, if you are looking to omit dairy, look elsewhere. For the rest of us, this is a must-have gluten-free cookbook.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2016Great recipes!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2008I bought this book as an addition to my ever growing library of gluten-free cooking books - this one is okay but lacks nutritional info with every recipe - an important item in my opinion.
If you haven't purchased Carol Fenster's recipe book as yet (her initial one) it has far better info and better recipes. Additionally anyone who has Celiac or gluten sens/allergy should bite the bullet and get the magazine: Living Without - it trumps everything - great recipes and up to date info. I've been gluten-free now 3 yrs after being diagnosed with Celiac @ age 62. I bake all of my own bread and most of the other stuff while my wife has been able to adapt just about any recipe to a GF one.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2009This book has the best yeast breads of any gluten-free breads I have tried, both homemade and store-bought! The other baked goods, main dishes, and side dishes I have tried from this book are excellent as well. I am excited about cooking again and delighted that the recipes have appealed to my entire family.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2008Sent this book to my daughter who recently has been diagnosed with celiac sprue disease. She had found several gluten free recipes which she used but was delighted to find a whole book with so many tastful recipes. Her daughters told her after trying many of the dishes from the book that they liked this version better than dishes that have gluten in them.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2007I have attended several of Jennifer's cooking classes. The food she prepares is delicious. Most of her recipes are adjusted from family recipes plus some new ones. If you are eating Gluten Free this is a must for you. A great gift for someone you know that is Celiac or GF.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2009As the owner of many gluten free cookbooks, this one has a permanent space on our kitchen counter! I serve my entire family from the recipes in this book nearly every night. I would recommend Jennifer's book for beginner cooks as well as the more experienced. Grace L.
