    Don’t miss Wye Oak

by Elizabethfabri on 5/24/18The Record Bar - Kansas City

Incredible show - one of the most memorable I’ve attended in years. Jenn’s vocals are evocative and powerful, Andy’s a rhythmic genius, and the songs soar. They are exceptional both technically and creatively — a rare combination. Their bass guitarist on this tour is great, too, providing a line that’s both complex and steady. Do not miss seeing Wye Oak in an intimate venue — they won’t be in small venues much longer.

Flawless, mind altering show; all in the confines of a tremendous venue.

    Wye Oak Rocked!

by Ptbass on 5/10/14Webster Hall - New York

So, like many of you fans of this band, I fell in love with 'civilian' and 'The Knot.' So a few days ago I pick up their new album and quickly realized it is quite a diversion from their old material. I like the sound, but my initial response was this is not the same band that I fell love with. On this tour they are heavily supporting their new material. After seeing them perform, what skepticism I had disappeared and they really sold me on the new album. I realize that it is still the same band and weaving together old and songs put it all together for me. It was great seeing them perform, Jenn's vocals are so strong. I think it was so ballsy of them to change direction and they really perform the new material with confidence. It's also amazing to see how only two people could pull off such a big sound.

Wye Oak - poised and yearning

by Arrested on 9/24/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

So much power and emotion from just two people! You might think playing the drums with one hand and a keyboard with the other is a gimmick, but it would only be a gimmick if it didn't work. If you'd only heard Wye Oak, and never seen them, would you even be able to guess that the drummer usually only drums with one hand? The singer's beautifully balanced voice is like feathers and fire, poised and yearning. Love them.

    Wye oak was dreamy

by Skt56 on 9/23/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Wye oak did an outstanding job. Her performance was much better in person compared to her studio recording. Or should I say.. Just different. Heading her live was less about the words she was singing, because you could hardly understand them, and more about the feel of her music.. The overall sound. And that sound was mesmerizing, and fun. Would definitely recommend this show to a friend! And I would probably see her again too.

by MaggieOOO on 9/22/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Brilliant performance by Wye Oak.. Big sound that managed to also be crisp and clear . They really got this show right all around. Of course their music is gorgeous...which is why I was there. This show will stick with me for years.

    Great Band; Lousy Sound Mixing

by cattyfan on 9/22/12Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Saw Wye Oak this past Wednesday in Boston, and while the music was great (as expected,) the sound was mixed in such a way the vocals were nearly inaudible for 90% of the show. Only during moments when Jenn was accompanied solely by her guitar could you actually hear her gorgeous voice. It was disappointing, as it's her voice which really makes Wye Oak worth listening to. Oddly, the sound for the opening act (The Calling) was far better. Vocals for them were clear, and it was fantastic when Jenn joined them for a number. I would stress my disappointment has nothing to do with Wye Oak. The problem was with the technician, not the band. If Wye Oak comes back this way, I will gladly buy another ticket and eagerly attend their concert.
