Product description

The brand new Erasure album 'The Violet Flame' was recorded in New York and London and produced by Richard X. The album follows 2013's critically acclaimed Snow Globe, and is the band's sixteenth studio album release.

Formed nearly 30 years ago, the award-winning songwriting duo of Vince Clarke and Andy Bell unleashed on the nation a succession of both influential and chart-topping pop anthems of the '80s, '90s through to today. Songs like 'A Little Respect', 'Sometimes', 'Victim Of Love', 'Ship Of Fools', 'Blue Savannah', 'Star', 'Chains Of Love', 'The Circus', 'Who Needs Love (Like That)', 'Love To Hate You', 'Drama!', 'Always' and 'Breathe', ensured a formidable presence on the singles charts complemented by five consecutive No 1 albums (including The Innocents, Wild! and Chorus) and the beginning of the worldwide Abba revival, 'Abba-esque'.

Erasure have found their mojo with this latest album! They have produced an album of catchy tunes with more of a dance vibe than previous offerings whilst maintaining the unmistakable sound of Erasure. Andy Bell's vocals sound better than they have for a number of years. There is a mixture of more upbeat tunes and typical Erasure ballads, all of which touch on the subject of love, but without being too in your face. Highlights for me include a great opener with Dead of Night; Sacred (a hands-up-in-the-air Euro style song); Paradise which is reminiscent of their cover of Supernature; Smoke and Mirrors which is more sombre and darker (think Crown of Thorns or Hallowed Ground) and the beautiful Be The One.

Just another class act from Erasure. Stand out track Smoke And Mirrors.

The latest offering from the top 80's pop duo Vince and Andy. There's some brilliant retro sounding tracks on this cd including my personal favorites "Sacred & Elevation" This is Erasure at their very best and has been released to coincide with a major US and Europe tour. I saw them again live in concert in Cardiff back in November and the new stuff was reproduced and performed perfectly, And I believe this will be end up being one of Erasure's classic albums in time along side "The Circus, Wild! & The Innocents"

I have been a fan of erasure for many years. Ever since I heard the circus. Have to admit that I didn't have high expectations of this release, I'm trying to get into it because I'm going to see them in concert in a few weeks. I would love for them to release an album like the innocents or my absolute favourite Wonderland. Albums that have stand out tracks that are memorable. Sorry lads I love you, you are still my second fave synth group after the pet shop boys, but the violet flame is ok but it doesn't blow me away.

Wow what a pleasant surprise! this is Erasure at their best would comfortably fit in to the Chorus, I Say I Say I Say , Erasure, Cowboy era! by far their best Cd in years! Andy's Voice is right up there Vince's Music is bright Bubbly and Atmospheric when it needs to be! 10 Cracking tracks not one filler amongst them! I got the special edition with Live In London Hits (haven't listened to them yet as the Main CD is so good)

brilliant - even if just for the free live album also included - a great selection of stuff from the past 30 years with the 2 new young girls singing along - check out 'blue savannah' and other favourites.......

However the main album is a disappointment , come on Andy what's all the sad songs for ? The only upbeat song I can say is SACRED - very 'pop'

Um dos melhores discos Technopop desta década, o melhor álbum deles do século após o Nightbird. Reason é uma música típica do Erasure no estilo que lembra um pouco o clássico Chains of Love.
