Product Description
Lakanto is a no-calorie sugar substitute with a taste you'll love! It's a lot like raw sugar, but with one big difference: zero calories and a zero glycemic index that won't affect your blood sugar levels. It closely matches the sweetness profile of table sugar and can be used in cooking, baking, coffee and tea. It doesn’t cause cavities or tooth decay, and best of all, it contains no additives and tastes great! Lakanto is ideal for diabetics. This all-natural “sugar alcohol” (or polyol) is produced through a fermentation process and has been approved for use as a sugar substitute in the United States and throughout much of the world. Lakanto is produced via natural fermentation of certified Non-GMO corn. “Lakanto ” is Japanese for "sweet fruit." It has become the #1 selling natural sugar substitute in Japan. For fourteen years, it is going strong and remains the only sweetener that contains ONLY luohan guo extract (Monk Fruit) and erythritol. This “white” Lakanto is derived by using the young Monk fruit extract. The other “golden” color Lakanto is derived from the mature, ripened fruit. The golden may have more of a “brown sugar” flavor to those persons with refined taste buds!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2023I use this because it has Zero calories. I don't use it every day but when something is needed for my tea, this is my choice. I also use the Golden Monk Fruit. Just made some zucchini bread and it was delicious. No odd taste as with many sweeteners. Everyone will have their opinion so my advice, try it and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2018So buyer beware, this is not a 2 pack. The listing is incorrect, but I contacted the seller when I realized the error and they corrected the issue right away for me.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2024I don't buy white sugar anymore instead I do all my baking with this product. I love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2016I wanted a natural sugar substitute so I thought I would give monkfruit a try. I found it to be not nearly as sweet, and using more means it is expensive. I do believe for diabetics or others who need to watch their sugar would be pleased to have a good option.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2017It tastes like cane sugar.Pure monk fruit is extremely sweet and cannot be used alone. It is 200 times sweeter than sugar, which is why they use erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol as the main ingredient. It has zero calories and zero glycemic effect. It is all natural. I started giving it to my husband in his coffee and he couldn't tell the difference. I don't sense any after taste. It is a life saver for diabetics.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2021This product was shocking. I used for my morning coffee today. First, it does have an aftertaste that is unpleasant. Second - and worst - it is more of a colon cleanse than anything else. Has given me sudden and explosive diarrhea and a massive headache. I honestly thought I came down with the flu but it was so sudden, and asymptomatic, that I ruled out influenza immediately. Did some quick research and read that bowel problems may be a side effect so there you have it. Grateful to Amazon for their excellent customer service and refund; but no thanks for the monkfruit sugar. Geesh
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2017I love this product, it is the most sugar like substitute I've ever tried. It is not pure monk fruit, does have erithritol in it which is a sugar alcohol, but this is the only one that I know of that is Non-GMO so it's safer. I don't care for this particular vendor however, as the advertisement is for two packages, when it is only one that you receive.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2018I purchased 4 but was only able to keep 3. They were wrapped by 2 but one of the packages was punctured and sugar covered.
