Small and unassuming yet packed with features
My new Nest E thermostat is everything I wanted it to be. Installation was easy using just four wires on my forced air gas furnace with central air. Because the old thermostat was mounted to a box in the wall, I had to purchase a mounting plate in order to properly mount the new stat. No control wire was present or needed. Setup was easy and the learning feature works fairly well. The display on the face of the thermostat is normally off until it senses someone approaching it. It is easily controlled manually or by application. I know the way the Nest thermostat controls the temperature while home and away will save us on our heating and cooling costs. Still not sure
I had a lot of problems getting the thermostat set up. Nest needs to develop a good installation and operational manual and put it online for help. I used their chat line about six times and only found one of the technicians that was able to help me get things going. I have also found that there is a difference in sensing of temperature between the nest and my old thermostat which was also programmable. We used to have it set at 72° during the daytime but 72° setting on the nest thermostat made it cool and we had to move it up to 74° to get the same comfort.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The ‘E’ is a nice Nest product
The Thermostat E works the same as any other Nest thermostat with the added benefit of having an all white casing, including a white frosted screen/lens/display on the front. The display has a white face but still allows the full color readout to shine through from behind. This produces a cool effect when activated. Functionality is great. The ability to set a schedule, or multiple schedules, is nice. The thermostat also monitors your activity and will adjust daily temperatures based on assumptions made during manual usage. The app is very easy to use and can access most of the same functionality that is found in the thermostat itself. The Home/Away function in combination with the built-in occupancy sensor allows the Nest to monitor the locations of any resident mobile phones where the Nest app is installed along with the occupancy sensor. If all resident mobile devices are detected as ‘Away’ from home plus no motion is detected near the thermostat, the device will go into Away mode which will have an alternate set of heat/cool settings for cost savings.

Good solution at a reasonable price
I have a simple heat system and I need to be able to determine if the heat is functioning when I am not home for many days or longer. This is one of the few I could find which will fill that need. I installed it in 30 minutes with complete ease and have had it running for two weeks or more without any issues. Make sure to read the Google Nest compatibility guide or check out U Tube for videos to make sure the Nest "E" meets your need and is a suitable solution for a change out. There are something like 3 generations of Nest Thermostats. Last point - there is a charging port on the back. Charge it for a few hours before attaching it. This ensures the battery is completely charged. If it is low on charge, it might not energize and it appears you have a problem. That was the case on another one I bought and installed. Really great
I bought two Nest E + Google Home Minis. I set all of them up in minutes and the work perfectly. I am rather amazed and surprised. As an Apple fan, these products really put Apple to shame at how useful and powerful they are. They put a smile on my face and exceeded expectations. Google Home is particularly good at hearing natural language and quickly executing its task. UPDATE************************ I still am happy with the Nest E, however, the fact that it doesn't integrate with HomeKit is a bummer! I was well aware of this when I purchased but now that I've had 4 Nest E's for a month, I am pissed that Google is playing games with consumers. I probably should have bought 4 Ecobee 3 Lites. Also, Google Home, while nifty, is fairly useless for me. Out of sight - out of mind. Best thermostat for 4 wire systems
The Nest E works on older 4 wire systems perfectly, and also newer 5 wire HVAC systems. If you want a Nest 3, but have an older 4 wire HVAC system, then the NEST E is for you! The Nest E will also save you $100 over the Nest 3, and has almost identical features. I also prefer the more subdued look of the Nest E. Good replacement for older failing thermostat
I bought this to replace an older digital thermostat, on which the buttons were beginning to become unresponsive. It was easy to install and set up, and integrates well with Google Home. I can now change thermostat settings from anywhere, as well as set up schedules if/when needed. Beautiful, wife friendly thermostat
I’ve had the regular Nest thermostat on our main air conditioning/heat system for 4 or 5 years. I purchased this for our smaller second system. Works great and looks great in the bedroom. Installation would have been easy if I hadn’t ignored the first step to turn off the power to the air conditioning system. I didn’t turn off the power and blew a 3 amp fuse on the control board of my system. Of course, the Nest told me it wasn’t getting power. It took me quite a while to track down the issue. Best nest thermostat for the price
Nest E thermostat is the best nest thermostat for me, where I needed a C power line to provide juice to regular nest learning thermostat, but I don't need that extra cable for E. It costs much less. No touchscreen like actual nest thermostat. But does the work same way it's big brother works. Not a single thing less. Set up is under 5 min. Installation took 15 min. Easy to work with.
I received it right away and replaced my old thermostat with this one Thermostat E. All I did was turn off the electricity to my home, unscrew the old thermostat disconnect the 4 colored wires, and then place the plate and connecting thermostat where the 4 wires come out of the wall. Easily connected the 4 wires matching the colors on the new thermostat and inserted the screw that came with the new thermostat into the wall, clipped the cover to the new thermostat over the connection plate and that was it. The app I used was called NEST and it picked it up right away then went to Google Home and selected the app NEST from the google home control list and it picked it up right away. Closed the apps and said Hey Google turn on the heat and set it to 68. She said Turning on the thermostat and setting it to 68 - the temperature is now at 62 and it will take 35 minutes to get to 68.
