Property at a Glance: Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim

The heart and soul of Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim is its 105,000-square-foot indoor water park. Splashy rides such as the Howlin’ Tornado—an enclosed water slide that shoots you through a six-story funnel—and a zero-depth-entry wave pool with 3-foot swells surround the park’s iconic hub: a four-story treehouse with a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. Younger kids will have a blast with the water slides and gentle spray features of Whooping Hollow and Cub Paw Pool.

The water park, which hovers around 84 degrees all year long, isn’t the resort’s only family-friendly activity. You’ll also find an arcade with more than 100 games.

  • Extended water park access: You can enter the water park at 1 p.m. on the day you check in and stay until close on the day you check out (essentially 2 days’ water park admission).
  • Family-friendly fun: There are plenty of games and activities for kids of all ages. Explore all activities by age group here.
  • Hands-on crafts and activities such as face painting and balloon twisting during the Lunch Time Lineup can entertain young children when they want a break from the water park action.
  • Roomy suites comfortably sleep up to eight people. Some suites provide extra privacy with enclosed bunk beds or separate bedrooms.
  • Where to eat: There are seven restaurants and snack bars, including the classy Lodge Wood Fired Grill.
  • Add a Paw Pass or Pup Pass to your stay to enjoy kid-friendly activities and sweets at Creation Station, MagiQuest, Bear Paw Sweets & Eats, and more at a discounted rate. See everything that’s included—as well as other available packages—here (additional fees apply).

My family and I loved the place. Great for kids, clean, fun and most of all my kids (5, 10, 14 & 15) were entertained. If ever we come back to America we will be staying at a Great Wolf Lodge

Lots of fun! JUST GO! honestly i was a little scared to go after reading all the reviews but we decided to try it out anyway and we’re so glad we did! We stayed 2 nights, 3 days in a “upgraded” wolf den suite and although it wasn’t “new” per say it was still very large and clean. We checked in shortly after 4pm and there was no line, they had about 4 people in the front desk area helping with check ins. We did add on the dining credits through the app before we arrived and pre paid parking which was really helpful. The water park itself isn’t huge but you can definitely spend hours in there having fun. My husband and I were able to join and get on all the slides along with our 8 year old. There was enough seating throughout the water park all day and ordering food from the mobile app was super convenient. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel overall was clean and so were the bathrooms in and outside the water park. We already booked a second trip to celebrate my kids birthday!

Front Desk Staff - Bring ID! TLDR: Bring your identification if using a credit card. Some areas in disrepair. We had friends that stayed at Great Wolf Lodge in Washington state and had a blast. We go to Disneyland every 2-3 years as a family and wanted to check out this Great Wolf Lodge location as a potential place to stay in upcoming trips. We decided to go with the day pass package to use the water park. When we arrived, we were told that we would have to purchase our passes online so we sat down and did that, using our Mastercard. We went to check in at the front desk and were asked for our identification. We were visiting from out of the country and had put our passports in our hotel safe. The employee working at the front desk didn't offer us any alternatives to providing identification and said that anywhere you use a credit card in Garden Grove, you would be asked for identification. I said that we had been in the area for four nights and hadn't been asked for ID once (other than checking into the hotel). I felt more comfortable with our passports locked in the hotel safe rather than carrying them around and we didn't bring our driver's licenses traveling because we didn't need them. My husband had to take an Uber back to our hotel and back to grab our passports (costing $35 CAD) so we would be allowed in to use our passes that we already purchased. We visited the build a bear workshop and a pizza restaurant at Great Wolf Lodge, using a Mastercard both times (spending more than our day passes were worth) and weren't asked for ID. In total, we spent 8 nights in the Anaheim/Garden Grove area and were only asked for ID at our hotel at check-in. Our airline lost our luggage and we shopped at the Target, which is very close to Great Wolf Lodge, spending over $600 USD on our Mastercard without showing ID. We ate at several restaurants and bought souvenirs at many places including IHOP, Denny's, Bubba Gump, Johnny Rockets, many places in Downtown Disney and in both Disney Parks, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks and not once were asked for ID. It seems like the Great Wolf Lodge is the only place enforcing this rule. I would understand if we were staying at the hotel, but we were just visiting for the day and our passes came to under $150 USD total. Although we had fun at the location, the experience at the front desk has left a sour taste in our mouth and needless to say, we won't be visiting again. We also did notice that the property was in a state of disrepair in the public areas that we visited.
