Wetherspoon 17+

Writing this while waiting for my order so see how far I get! I’ve used the app before which is great when there is only one of you as you don’t lose your table while ordering at the bar. My first choice of mixed grill was not available on Saturday lunchtime which was disappointing (hope they have a delivery before tonight). Turf and surf not a bad second choice so let’s hope it’s as good as it sounds. Really fancy a sip of Guinness now, hope it won’t be long..... ten minutes since ordering and getting thirsty, pub looks only about one quarter full. Guess they are limiting numbers due to covid. Nice to be able to sit inside (or outside on a summer day like today) ..... 20 minutes and no drinks yet, getting hungry now too. Only an hour lunch break, hope it comes soon .... foods arrived after 24 minutes, looks pretty plain (no garnish or veg). It is what it says though .... food nice and hot, steak good for budget choice. Scampi nice and hot, a bit of tartare sauce would be nice! ... half an hour and still no drink, boy I’m sweating now.... 33 minutes, drunk arrived with an apology. Server very polite and obviously his best .... definitely 8/10 score (and that’s because the sun is shining). Note to Tim Martin pending the expected full reopening after covid restrictions end in 2 weeks time, maybe an idea to employ some EU staff to fill the shortages? Oh 🤔

Myself and a mate signed up to the app so we could order the food from table. (918) in the globe Kings Lynn. Bearing in mind this is the 1st time we have used this option we have wasn’t able to adjust the drinks order on the app. The guy that brought out the drinks who now I am told is the one of the duty managers delivered the most appalling level of customer service I have ever experienced in any restaurant. We basically asked if there was any chance we could add some lime to the pint of fosters. He said No they had already been poured and if you wanted lime you should of made your order at the bar. You should do that next time. He was very rude and wanted to turn his back on us as quick as he could. I made a complaint to the other duty manager but as they are at the same level I suspect he didn’t even discuss the complaint with his colleague.
Not a very happy customer and unlikely to visit hear again.

Easy , Fast and convienient . set up table number , order what you want , pay via apple pay which is so so easy . Food is then delivered to the table . The biggest advantage is not having to wait to be served . Ive been to many Weatherspoons which can get very busy especially weekends and evenings and had to fight my way to the bar and wait ages to be served. The disadvantage is if you order a refillable coffee or soft drink you still have to go and get this yourself which isnt great if your not expecting this , the other disadvantage is when ordering drinks you can’t for example add a dash of a mixer or order a shandy ,add ice and lemon , fix this problem and it would be perfect .Overall a very good app , I can see that Weatherspoons will be leading the way for many of the chain pubs and resteraunts to develop similar apps which will mean waiting service and bar staff jobs will be cut as a result . Good or Bad this will be the future of the hospitality industry .Next step will be intelligent tables with touch screens where you can order your food at the table , have it delivered by robot and a robot come and clear the table. Uncleared tables is one of the most annoying aspects of a visit to Weatherspoons.
