There is not recipe book. In the manual there are just few recipes, the manual itself is not so easy, but there are many videos on youtube, I figured out there.

Hardly any though you can hear that the fan is working. The noise level is very low unless you are really paying attention to it.

Are you sure you are pressing down on the release button (located under the clear plastic tab)?   If you don&#39;t hold that down while inserting the basket, it won&#39;t go in.

Yes.  You should hear the fan noise.  It is not extremely loud but it is loud enough to hear it very very easily.  You need to exchange it if the fan is not working.

Ok so my 10 plus year old convection over is giving out so I decided to look for something that cooks the same way just smaller and cheaper. Bought this at $39 here and cooked my first batch of sweet potato fries and chicken wings. I'll have to play with the fries a bit to get the right texture but the chicken wings were perfect. 10 minutes on one side 12 on the next.

Unless you have owned several different brands, it would be hard to compare the performance of this brand to others. 
Not knowing what to expect I feel it did a good job of what I have cooked so far. I have done frozen chicken nuggets and French fries. It cooked both fast. The fries came out very good. The chicken was a little dark on certain pieces that were closer to the heating element. Should have shook more,often to keep This from happening or turned down heat.
There is a learning curve to operating this but I believe once mastered this is a great addition to any kitchen. It does put out a lot of warm air via the back vent of the unit.
Pictures show basket size and the button and it's plastic shield that you push to release basket from holder.
