Attachments

Hook It

Simply bend the tail into a hooked position for use in countless applications.

Product Description

The BOOM Swimmer is not afraid of the water. This durable little Bluetooth speaker can be immersed to a depth of 3 feet for up to 30 minutes, and it plays music wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-compatible device. Use it anywhere there's a chance of getting soaked - poolside, in the shower, on the slopes (but don't take it scuba diving). Not only is the Swimmer waterproof, but its rugged casing is also shock-resistant and dust-resistant, too. Perfect for a day at the beach.

    It has held up for over two years now both poolside and in just about constant use when I‘m in my car.
    It holds a charge well (especially since there are times when I’ve left the car overnight and forgotten to turn it off).
    It is also easy to charge (you twist the little tail end counterclockwise until it comes off, and then there is a typical flap which you raise to plug in the charger).
    Speaking of the little tail, it has been incredibly handy for hanging the speaker or just keeping it put where you put it.
    Volume enhancement is good: I use it so often in my car because I have trouble hearing just my iPhone on the highway, it is also sufficient for teenage pool parties (at least, no one has complained).
    The sound quality is the same as when I use just my iPhone (not “tinny” or buzzing or anything).
    It has never been submerged (that I *know * of 😉); but I’m sure it has been splashed and I have great confidence of its high water-resistance because of the way it is constructed.
    I would definitely buy it again or recommend it to a friend. (And believe it or not, I have received no compensation for this review - I just think the product works well)

    After using a friends at Bonnaroo last year I knew I needed to buy one myself.

    The BOOM speaker has insanely good sound quality for the price range and features that the speaker has. It's great for any situation and let's you take your music with you to share anywhere, dry or wet.

    PROS
    Great sound - Strong bass and crisp highs. Sounds as good as a wired connection
    Solid battery life - It will definitely last you through whatever activity you bring it for. Depending on your use you might have to charge it more, but with moderate daily use I get a good few days of use between charges.
    Durability - Its waterproof, dustproof, and shock proof. If it can last through a music festival, it'll last through normal daily use.
    Versatility - The flexible tail make it easy to stand up anywhere or hand from wherever seems appropriate. I was surprised to find the suction cup when you twist off the tail, allowing for even more places to put up the speaker.

    CONS
    None really. My BOOM speaker has functioned perfectly, though defects can happen from what I've read in other reviews. Polk Audio customer service is excellent though and will most likely be able to help you solve any problems that may arise!

    FINAL THOUGHTS
    Aside from a high-end bluetooth speaker system, the BOOM speaker is my top pick for any Bluetooth speakers in the price range. It'd definitely worth every penny over competitors, and I will be buying another.

    Nice little speaker! I bought it for work so we could have some tunes in the kitchen without taking up too much space. Needless to say it has been put to the test; dropped, spilled on, and cranked all the way up. Some issues are the silicone casing gets loose after a while and the buttons on the case slide out of position and the annoying warning sound when the battery is low, but when charged it can last over 5-6 hours being used so it doesn't happen very often. All in all awesome buy.

    Well I must say that when I got the speaker I liked the look and feel. It was super easy to setup and pair with my music player. But the main reason I bought it was to float down the river and listen to music. Well it held up just fine to the water. I submerged it a couple time to very shallow depths and it still continued to play fine. The audio quality was pretty good but not very loud which I didn't expect that from though from such a small speaker. The audio quality was pretty good but it's not a base machine, obviously. So my initial impression was that it's a great speaker with decent audio quality.

    THE BAD:
    However, I am very unhappy with the battery life of this speaker. It only lasted for about half the float of the river. Which the part I floated was around 3 hours long. Now granted we had it on full blast but to only last roughly 1.5 hrs and that was a huge let down. Especially when the advertised battery life was so much more. If this speaker lasted as advertised I would be extremely happy with this purchase and rated at probably 5 stars. But since it didn't hold up battery wise I would say it's not better for anything other then the shower or hanging out at the beach for short periods of time. Anything longer than an 1.5 hrs you better have another audio solution...

    Some cons: bluetooth range is about 25ft line of sight. If you're trying to use it through walls may have issues. (possibly my older Mac bluetooth power could be that issue). I find the tail hook is much better to use than the suction cup especially due to vibration from speaker use. You can turn it up too loud and get some distortion, so don't turn it up that much, right.

The battery life is awesome and the sound output is pretty decent as I use it to listen to the radio when I get ready in the morning so it sits in the bathroom most of the time.
