- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2011Purchased this for my son, and the coat fits beautifully. We ordered a small thanks to the other reviewers who said the sizes run big. Coat is soft and warm enough for most winter days. Appears to be well-made. Would purchase again.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2013The material is not as soft as I expected, several buttons aren't very secure and it fits somewhat tight at the shoulders and bigger through the waist than I would like; the sleeve length is good. It has two nice inside pockets. It's a nice looking casual throw on and off coat that keeps me warm but overpriced considering the material, quality and fit.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2011First experience ordering more than a t-shirt in the way of clothes online, and appreciated the details on the sizing. I ended up going for a large, and likely should have chosen a medium, but decided to keep the larger size for wearing over a suit.
The quality of the wool blend is exactly what I expected. The weight is reasonable for a peacoat, though I suspect that the durability will be slightly limited. I would have preferred a slightly heavier wool fabric. The lining in the jacket is exactly what one expects - nylon, quilted, and won't transfer the wool to your suit. Button holes likely should have been more reinforced, but are acceptable.
Inside are a pair of pockets on the left hand side - a larger top pocket with a smaller bottom pocket, both with velcro closures. The bottom pocket would be suitable for a smaller smartphone, the top pocket designed for a men's folding wallet, with about 5" of depth. Outside are a pair of pockets suitable for hands or keys, with no closures.
All in all, the jacket is warm, light to medium weight. I purchased mine during Amazon's steal on peacoats for $68, but would have felt comfortable paying twice that amount.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2012When I received this jacket the texture of the outside material immediately struck me as the type that would pick up all types of lint and dirt. It actually seemed to have already picked up some lint between processing and shipping. That being said it still looked nice and was well insulated so I figured I would probably keep it; then I went tried it on. The jacket's sleeves were extremely short. I wear either a 40L or 42L suit, and I haven't ever had issues with sleeve length on other coats that I have purchased in the past. The sleeves on this jacket were around 4 inches too short. Since this was an impulse buy, and I felt that ordering a larger size would leave me swimming in the actual body of the jacket I returned it. Word to the wise if you have long or even average length arms you'll have the same issue I did.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2011In general, I've been very unsatisfied with the sizing descriptions provided by Amazon on my last few purchases. A description of "Large" is too big for this London Fog peacoat. I hesitate returning it for a smaller size because I'm concerned a medium might be too snug in the shoulders.
What attracted me about this coat is it's a London Fog for less than 70 USD. At first glance, it seemed like a great deal. Now I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay to have it tailored. (There goes the incredible deal.) I agree with another reviewer regarding an odor coming from the coat. It's sort of a chemical smell coupled with wet wool. Hopefully a dry cleaning will take care of that problem. (Another unnecessary expense.)
Come on, Amazon! Improve your sizing descriptions! I'm convinced Amazon has become preoccupied with selling the Kindle, and the quality control and customer service on its other products have suffered.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2011I bought this peacoat during Amazon's lightning deal on Thanksgiving and for only about 70 dollars this was a steal! The fabric is very high quality and if caught in the rain, water just rolls down it. The coat is incredibly warm and is perfect for the cold, winter months. Buttons are sewn on tightly and came with an extra in case of emergency. I'm very happy with the product. London Fog has done a great job!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2012I am familiar with the quality of London Fog and this coat was no exception. It fit perfectly and it is very warm. This is my first Pea Coat and now I wonder why I didn't buy one sooner.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2012I read that some people have been getting larger sizes than ordered (only medium sizes???) but I had the reverse. I bought an XL even thought I usually wear a large and it was a good thing because the XL fits like a large coat.
As for the sewing, it needs imporving. The bottom two buttons came off after one week of being worn and buttoned, the threading just came out. Also, the buttom of the inside pocket opened up and the items that were in it fell through to the bottom of the coat. Now I have to take it and get it repaired.
The good thing about this coat was it kept me warm on very cold days without me needing to wear my usually large and hard to move in coat.
