MID HIGHT MARSHMALLOW PILLOW
5 out of 5 stars
MID HIGHT MARSHMALLOW PILLOW
It contours to your head and neck. It's healthy because it's made of of natural latex. It's not talalay or the other. It just says natural latex on the tag ( see pictures) BUT I will take it over the toxic fake foams that you breath in all night. You can tell it's latex, it smell like vanilla and a natural foam. It's so spongy but its not soft , not hard more like dense. I think it's great for pillow huggers and maybe side sleepers. It's medium hight. It was to high for me in a back sleeper and like thin pillows. The cover is 100% cotton, nice and fresh. It's about the same price as a toxic memory foam pillow. Its described ad plush by the advertiser, but I would describe as medium firm Support natural products people. I recommend this pillow, start here. Quality pillow. Nature for the win.

These pillows are great!. If you've never used a latex foam pillow, here are a couple of things to know:
-They hold their shape and spring back to the exact same shape every time, like memory foam, but faster and a lot softer
-They do not hold heat like memory foam
-The foam that fills the space between the bed and your neck will not choke you or press on your jugular (for side & stomach sleepers)
-These pillows do not have pressure points which is great if pillows often press on your sinuses making it hard to breathe, or if your ears or other parts of your face tend to feel mushed or pressed. This may vary for different people, but it's the most relief I've ever gotten.
-These and most brands I know of are the same shape on both sides, so if you like the cold side of the pillow, you can just flip it over and around to any orientation to get that just laid down feeling and since they instantly spring back to the same shape, you do not have to worry about trying to get comfortable again because it's not supporting you the same way as before (like down and other stuffed pillows).
-IMPORTANT: Firmness and thickness vary greatly between brand and model. I've seen some so thick that when you lay your head on it, half of your face goes missing because you sink down into it. Some are more firm than others, but if you are not fond of the pillow compressing to about half of its size before your head stops sinking (personally I love it) then this may not be for you.

    ABOUT THIS PILLOW
The one I received was extremely soft and became firmer the further my head sank into the pillow until it was firm enough to support the weight of my head. For me, the pillow was about half of its thickness at this point. The pillow is not very thick to begin with so it becomes pretty thin. This is fine for me since I like to lay on my side and eventually roll to my stomach. I don't want a thick pillow when I lay on my stomach.
The pillow has holes throughout it, which I suppose make it breathe more, but also makes it softer and compress more. I definitely wouldn't mind a thicker latex pillow or one this size without holes in it since these don't get that hot anyway and are already soft, but it's still the best pillow I've laid on in a long time.

I used latex pillows for years until I stopped being able to find them in stores. Since then I have tried synthetic down, down, memory foam. Nothing compares.

I decided this pillow was so helpful, to order a 3 inch latex extra long twin mattress pad for my twin bed. my mattress is old and i can feel the hard springs. my neck was hurting from my other pillows. i tried polyester fill, down, silk, feather, memory foam, foam bead, tested buckwheat at stores (reminds me of dry leaves in a pillowcase all crackly when you push down on them lol).

I had some success with my 70 dollar silk pillow from empress silk. it helped to have a cheap 3 dollar walmart polyester pillow on top of that for padding. After getting the latex pillow i only need to use that ONE pillow to sleep on. i could probably even read with it, as it supports my head in any sleeping or laying position. I think it is also a great value for the purchase and have used the pillow for about a week so far with no issues. The pillow took me about a day or two to get used to sleeping on and is soft yet springy and supportive, but soft. it reminds me of laying in a bed of rised bread dough or something, but it is more supportive to hold your sleep position. it is very comfortable and relaxing.

The cotton cover can be removed and washed, it is hard to get it back on but i managed that too. I would recommend possibly getting a pillowcase cover and a pillowcase on top of that so that you dont have to change the pillow cover as much. I will try to update this review with any changes. Simmons seems to have some of the best beds in the industry though so this lived up to my expectations.

First of all, I could not believe how heavy this pillow was when I received it; the Talalay Latex is obviously a very dense material - you could do some serious damage if you were exchanging blows with one of these babies!

The first night I used the pillow, I couldn't get comfortable on it. It is rather tall and I felt like it didn't let my head sink in enough. But after using it for a few nights, and trying different sleeping positions, I came to adjust to the support provided and I like it. In fact, after using it for about a month now, I have come to really like this pillow.

I don't think I can really describe the pillow any better than some of the other reviewers have, but just be aware that this is not really a "soft" pillow, but more of a "springy" one - and it does cradle your head nicely.

**Updated April, 2011: After using this pillow for about a year and a half now, I thought I should come back and mention that I really LOVE this pillow. It definitely adjusted to my sleeping style, and I can tell a big difference if I am traveling and have to use another pillow (though I love it so much that I always bring it with me on road trips). It is still pretty firm and shows no signs of wearing out any time soon.

I'm not sure what the difference is with Talalay or some of the other latex pillows, but this is a rather nice pillow. It's softer and cooler than memory foam, yet very resilient.

I've used regular foam, feathers, buckwheat hull, memory foam and of course this latex pillow. I'd say of those, it will probably be personal preference between feather/down, buckwheat hull and latex. This specific pillow is not stiff and your head will sink in, but then once it does that the support is very good. It might take a little getting used to but once you do it's one of my favorites.

I liked the initial smell but that also fades away with time. Too bad, it was a good, natural scent. This might not be great for side sleep, although with a memory foam mattress (I don't have a latex one, but I might get one eventually) this might be okay for that too. I think it's best for back and maybe stomach sleepers.

I've had this for 2 years and used it off and on, and recently have switched to it as my nightly pillow. Otherwise I tend to prefer the feather pillows. I don't see any advantage for memory foam however over latex.
