The value for the money is excellent on this mattress. But it won't be great for everyone. It's a coil spring mattress, which most people seem to be moving away from. But for about $210 shipped to my doorstep (local stores clearance specials were more than twice this amount without adding in shipping) I got a firm, 8" queen mattress that is the way I like. I was reticent to order this after reading various reviews about it being too hard, or too soft. The fact that it comes shrunk compressed to a pancake thickness, and folded in half, also concerned me that the springs would be stress fatigued. I've always been most comfortable on firm (not really hard, but very supportive) mattresses, with a short spring and flat rigid pallet support (I also don't like box springs which have a flex). Memory foam mattresses and big fluffly pillow tops always have been a problem for restful sleep or soreback in the morning. Those types also retain too much body heat, and I toss a lot at night. Though it's only 8" height, it doesn't come close to bottoming-out for me. For heavier individuals it could stll be an issue. I would say this is more firm than any of the $800+ ones I had tried in the department stores, which all seemed too soft to me. Now the negatives: The box is VERY heavy, and I had to carry mine up 4 flights of steps, which I would not recommend for an individual to do. Luckily I had a nice firm mattress to sleep on that night after straining my back, so I was only a little stiff. Since then I've had VERY restful sleep on this. I also did not need someone to install it or dispose of an old mattress. The manufacturer gets a big thumbs up from me on this product. Great value for the money. Delivery cost was less than having it shipped from the department store.
