    This wa my first time ordering this brand, had to return it. Everytime I logged on to my laptop my laptop would say.....your computer may be at risk. Also, the unusual thing was I would have to sign in to McAfee everytime I logged on.

    I have since replaced it with Norton, no computer risk popping up or having to sign in to activate.

    We just purchased MacAfee for the first time, and so far really like it. It operates smoothly and so far effectively without interferring with anything we are doing on the computer. It runs regular scans and notifies you if there are any issues. So far there has been nothing it can't handle. Once in a very rare while, it will bounce you out or a site it feels is risky, and it has warded off a serious threat by rebooting once. We will continue to appraise it, and I would be interested in seeing if upgrading it to the Internet Security package would be worth it.

    I ordered this without reading the reviews off of my past positive experiences with McAfee products. I am not a super technical person but I have more technical knowledge that you average person as I worked in an IT department for about a decade. I purchased a new computer with McAfee anti-virus already on it but it was only a specifc period of time. I purchased the McAfee cd instead of just a product key and boy am I glad I did. I tried to just enter the product key number and got repeated errors. This process should have only taken a few minutes. After about an hour into trying to make it work and getting an error message I came back to the reviews already written to see if anyone else had experienced similar problems and hoping that maybe someone would offer a solution. I wish I had read them prior to purchasing it. My experience was much like many other peoples. I finally totally took off the existing McAfee and started from scratch. It still took about 2 more hours. It didnt want to install from the cd. I had to do it from the web. I even tried turning off the internet connection to force a cd install and it wouldnt . DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT unless you have hours of your life to waste. The next time my anti virus expires I will be going with another company.

    Amazon had a good deal on this product - purchased under duress. I was forced to uninstall Norton despite having 6 more months of subscription - it was causing BSODs due to their EFA Database hidden under the System Volume folder of the boot drive becoming "corrupted". More than 10 years ago I was a died in the wool McAfee user and had been using Norton for those 10 years until now (auto-sig updating was not in vogue yet). I have to admit that Norton has much better scanning capabilities (option to not scan the internals of CAB/ZIP files, etc.) but I am disappointed over the fact that a full scan has yet to finish on my 60GB of data after six hours with McAfee. Does it do the job for real-time? I believe so. Who has the better product? Probably Norton and especially with their scanning algorithm (it took less than 2 hours on my system). But Amazon did have the best price and fast delivery with this product.

    I had an unfavorable customer support experience with McAfee over setting the time of a scheduled scan being consistently wrong by one hour. No matter how I configured it, I eventually saw that between 12pm and 6pm, the time was off by an hour. After contacting tech support online and allowing McAfee to control my computer, they took the easy way out. They uninstalled and had me reinstall the complete product. When I specifically asked the offshore agent if this was a definitive fix, I was lied to... he gave me some made-up story about my computer was not properly connecting to their time server... seriously? That made-up story/functionality does not exist. Of course it did the exact same thing (improper time on the scheduled scan) when I tried to re-establish the scheduled scan. However, once I attempted that scan (again, I've never made it to completion, even after waiting more than 6 hours), it started behaving as expected with respect to actually running the scan when I told it to and not an hour later.

    Amazon: good: Mcafee: disappointed - they've been around too long to put a product out there with these kinds of defects in it. And I have already received some auto-program updates.

    i purchased this b/c i didn't have enough for a 2014 edition and i'm not disappointed in anyway, i feel like my laptop is completely protected and it does so much more than your average anti-virus protection....i mean its no norton but i'd put my money on it to give norton a great run...the fact that i can use on 3 pc is just an added bonus. i'd recommend this to anyone looking for good pc protection at a great price.
