Good Investment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera because I didn't want to buy the disposable underwater cameras anymore. I am happy I bought this one before our last snorkeling trip. It takes good pictures on land as well as underwater. Although it does take practice. There are four underwater modes, and you need to select one for the photos you want. I had stayed on the underwater snapshot mode mainly. I found out that zooming in this mode caused the pictures to come out blurry. I also tried the underwater wide and underwater HDR modes. I got some good photos with the wide, the HDR ones didn't come out as well. This may have been a result of my movements and the movements of those around me. It also lives up to the name "Tough". I had put the strap on the camera, but it wasn't as secure as I thought. At one point the camera fell off the strap, falling about 2 feet to the cement. The camera didn't get a scratch on it. I still wouldn't test it and purposefully drop it from a higher height. Just good to know that it works fine after a fall. I also used the app to upload the photos to my phone. Worked just fine, I have an iPhone 6S.

Go ahead, try to break it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm off on a once in a life time sort of vacation soon and while my phone has a great camera in it, I'll be doing a lot of snorkeling and I just wasn't confident in the various ZipLock bags that are sold for using a phone underwater, so I prowled around for a sturdy camera to take to the wet places. The TG-5 is waterproof to 50 feet - way deeper than I'm likely to go, so that's perfect. It's also shock resistant, and crush resistant - though I'm hoping not to test those out :) Unlike most new cameras, it does not have a touch screen which is the most common criticism I've seen of it, but those critics don't seem to be aware that touch screens don't work very well - if at all - under water. All of the controls on the TG-5 are physical and work above and below the surface. I also picked up a flash diffuser for use underwater, and the telephoto lens kit, both of which are also waterproof - though I doubt I'll risk changing lenses in the middle of the south Pacific :) I've only been practicing with the camera so don't have any particularly notable photos to share that aren't of my dining room table. The attached was taken in the alley behind my house, late in the day when the sky was a pretty striking shade of pink. The only change to the file was exporting it from Olympus' native raw format (OPF) to a JPEG to upload. I will say that I don't much care for the Olympus Viewer 3 software. So far it's the only thing I've found which can export the OPF files, but I haven't looked too hard and I'm sure someone's got a plugin for Photoshop.

Awesome waterproof camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera to take on a vacation to Florida. On the first day the kids had it in the pool. At the end of the week long vacation I had over 3,500 pics. (Most taken by the kids underwater.) The pics are amazing but the under water pics are mind blowing!!! They are crystal clear. I love this camera. Very easy to use. Can download pics to app on phone.

Well priced-Great quality-Eeasy to use-UNDERWATER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a perfect camera we were not afraid to use on our Honeymoon to Jamaica. We went less than 48 hours prior to leaving on our trip to find a great underwater camera that was reasonably priced and wouldn't take a lot of knowledge to use right out of the box. This checked all of our boxes! We ordered a bunch of batteries and memory cards for it and this was the easiest point and shoot underwater camera we've ever used. The quality so far is amazing as well (purchased mid-Sept 2018). I hope this camera lasts for years and many more trips around the world as we travel!

Great pocket sized camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for its underwater performance, but it is a great all around travel camera too. The underwater pictures look awesome when swimming in clear water. The night shots are vibrant with color, but use a stand to get clear shots. The daylight pictures are crisp. The camera's many features allow taking pictures in many different ways and places.

Good camera; high learning curve
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took this on a trip to Israel. Practiced with it a while. Got fairly fluent. There is always program setting for point and shoot. When pics are good, they're great...but they can be pretty bad when experimenting. Have not used it underwater. All in all a good camera.

Q: QuestionWhat does it mean by "integrated GPS"?
Asked by mattkuo.
- A:Answer The TG-5 has a built-in (integrated) GPS receiver, and when turned on it will log your location in a data file attached to each photo taken. Using the Olympus Image Track smartphone app you can then see where you were when you took a particular photo. The TG-5 can also record the time, altitude (or depth underwater), the temperature (including water temperature), and barometric pressure. If you turn the "Log" switch on when the camera is off, and then press the "Menu" button, the viewscreen will become a digital compass and show a compass card and all the above information. See:
