- ImoMaeFairLancashire, United Kingdom101 contributionsFantastic beachFantastic beach. Not overly busy. Free toilets, restaurant, bar and shop on beach. Lovely atmosphere at night. Reece can’t do enough for you to ensure you have a good night. Definitely recommend!Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 30 May 2023
- Elle R7 contributionsBeautiful beachAmazing views and perfect little cove to block most of the British wind. The pizzas and ice-cream were delicious although slightly higher in price. The beach was full but we had a great day. There’s a hut where you can book to go on jet skis, would’ve loved to have a go but they were unfortunately fully booked. The stairs to it are also difficult for anyone with mobility issues but I suppose that is expected with any beaches in coves. Would recommend for anyone staying around Newquay area. It’s truly beautiful and we hope to return.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 July 2023
- MrsTHodge2 contributionsSeasonal delight with warm, attentive serviceI recently visited Lusty Glaze beach cafe in December with my son, who was staying for Christmas. I had not ventured down those steps for quite a few years and WOW, what a very pleasant surprise. The site had been developed since my last visit and everything about the place looked beautiful and fresh and tastefully decorated for the season. We were greeted by Maaike, who was very welcoming and were told we could sit anywhere, look at the menu and order at the bar. My son and i did just that and were treated to an incredible view of the high tide and stormy sea. We were cold, so had coffee and soup to start, which was delicious, followed by the Lusty Mezze board, which was generously filled with a fabulous array of meats, cheeses, crackers and other treats. Light, yet tasty and perfect to pick at whilst watching the weather roll in. On our way out we thanked Maaike for the food and excellent service and just started chatting. We spent another quarter of an hour, just passing the time of day. The food was a delight, the atmosphere cheery and bright and the the service was faultless; Warm, friendly, and attentive. We will definitely return. Thank you Maaike and team.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 January 2024

Walked miles to this beach on my birthday only to be refused to leave it as it was ‘closed’ for a wedding. No warning signs ANYWHERE and the tide was fast coming in. Refused access to exit the beach despite there being no way of getting back without getting in the sea. Don’t bother. They don’t care about warning people and they certainly don’t care about the safety of the public.

Hi Laura.
Thanks for your review.
I remember this well. Yes, you are correct, we were closed to the public on the day you walked around. We publicise all of our exclusive weddings and events on our website and Facebook page up to a year in advance to enable people to plan walks and beach visits with no surprises. In the absence of the possibility of signs, one of our lovely maintenance team who was positioned to meet walkers to inform them, met you as you and your husband as you came around. He politely informed you that the beach was closed and asked you to go back around, at which point he received a not-so-polite response. After receiving your response, he had the presence of mind to take photos of the route back, showing how very accessible it actually was. It stayed accessible for well over an hour after he spoke to you, as we still had walkers coming around. In the cases where the exit routes are not accessible due to the tide, and safety is thus a concern, we of course allow people to safely leave via the beach steps.
Thank you again for your review.

My excellent husband found this amazing beach and we spent a day there recently, all I can say is stunning, my favourite beach I’ve ever visited, did not try the shop or cafe but there is a toilet close by for anyone to use, 120 steps down (not as steep as whipsiderry beach) and lovely clean beach. Dogs allowed, and we spent all day there and will be coming back, parking wasn’t an issue as car park right by steps (limited spaces but we managed better than parking in Newquay town centre), so as a treat I’m going to by my wonderful husband a motorbike, I’m so lucky to have him (written on behalf of my wife and what I think she would say) see you soon lusty gaze.

Beautiful cove with a fab restaurant on - privately owned and accessed by a LOT of steps so not accessible to buggies , wheelchairs or anyone with mobility issues or those unfit and not able to manage a lot of steps

We had our wedding at Lusty Glaze beach last week. It was the most perfect day and we could not recommend it any more highly.
The wedding had to be postponed twice due to various reasons and the staff could not have been any more helpful and accommodating with arranging new dates.
The restaurant food, marquee and beach itself is absolutely wonderful. The staff were so friendly, nothing was a problem and they made us all feel so welcome all weekend.
A big thank you to Naomi, Reece, Robin and all the team for making our day so special. We could not have asked for anything more and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone looking for somewhere to have a perfect wedding!

Visited the bar and marque a number of times now and absolutely take back my previously negative comments, the venue is amazing and always has been but the service has been excellent and such a pleasant experience to spend some hours any time of the day or evening, enjoying a coffee , a beer, a wine or a pizza!
We moved nearby some weeks ago so we can now count this as our ‘local’ !
Thank you .

Secluded cove away from the hustle and bustle of main town Newquay. Steps will be an issue for some but glorious Sandy beach at bottom is worth it.

I am attending a wake next week and have cerebral palsy does this mean I can only access via the 133 steps?

I'm afraid I so depending on tide times in which case you may be able to walk around from the neighbouring beach (but didn't go there so not sure how that's accessed) there is a cliff out crop at high tide that prevents this but if tides out you may be able to come and go that way

Is there any access for disabled people?

Hi Bevk. Unfortunately our only access is via the 133 steps. However, the steps are sectioned into platforms of approx 10-15 steps meaning there is a little resting spot at regular intervals. For guests attending weddings etc we do have alternative solutions. Please drop us an email or give us a call and we would be very happy to chat things through with you.

If the weather is lovely, yes - either the Headland or Fistral but in the rain definitely go for a cab!
