From the Manufacturer
Homes need as much love as the people in them. With Citristrip, you can safely remove layers of yesteryear from your furniture, cabinets, doors, and other painted surfaces. And it smells pretty nice too. Paint remover needs to stay wet to work. Citristrip stays wet for 24 hours. So you can cover and strip an entire dining room set in one go. If it's too wintery to strip your furniture outside, or if your furniture is nailed down inside, Citristrip is safe for indoor use. That's because it's made without methylene chloride. Citristrip smells like oranges instead of eye-watering chemicals. And its orange color helps the stripper gel stand out on a surface, so you know where you've applied it.

So, I picked up a nearby razor and drug it across the primer, just to see what it did...expecting the e-coat to laugh on my face. I was surprised by the primer sliding right off the surface! I grabbed a small wire brush and began lightly scrubbing the door and watched as the primer turned into a slurry of black powder, suspended in the Citri-Strip gel. I continued for maybe 5 minutes and had the majority of the door stripped to bare metal, with a few stubborn spots left. I used my brush and spread the slurry around over the surface again, waited a couple minutes and then re-brushed the stubborn spots. To my surprise, they were lifting off and joining the gel-of-shame. I brushed the slurry again and plan on letting it sit overnight to loosen the remaining crumbs without my efforts.
I'll clean it off tomorrow and calculate my elbow-labor. So far I'm impressed with it's stripping power and lack of lung-searing fumes.

I bought this after employee at home depot said it would work to get the clear coat finish off decorative crown molding which is impossible to sand without messing it up. I came here and saw a lot of good reviews so I ordered it. UGGGGGG!! I just finally used it today and am thankful that I only did a 4 foot section. It's a BLOODY NIGHTMARE!! It took forever to scrape off and the rubbery, gunky residue is stuck in all the little groves and lines and it even wore down the ends of my dumb plastic scraper (which is what everyone says to use to scrape off this CRAP!) It took me 1 1/2 hours of scraping this junk and I have washed it and it's still GROSS and tacky feeling. I'm gonna try denatured alcohol next and see if that will finally get the rest of this junk off. This stuff may work great for big flat wood pieces, but it SUCKS BIG TIME for decorative moldings. I'm gonna try my drimmel with one of those 3M little thingamabobs I saw in a video tonight from now on to finish stripping this molding so I can repaint it without this sticky gooey mess that seems to never come off and I won't have to worry about all the people who mention the rags and paper with citristrip have to dry out really well with risk of spontaneous combustion. I rather go old school with a little extra elbow grease than have my house burn down from this crap drying on the rags and papers used to get this stuff cleaned off.
I've done DIY projects for decades and this is my worst experience EVER!! This is the first and last time I will ever buy this type of CRAP!! Oh, and the afterwash this company supposedly says will remove the residue is DISCONTINUED according to their site.
