The voices of a children's music phenomenon, the Kidz Bop Kids perform "kid-friendly" versions of hit singles on the highly popular Kidz Bop compilations. Soon after the series debuted in 2001 -- featuring covers of songs by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera -- Kidz Bop became a household name, selling tens of millions of albums as well as merchandise and tickets to the Kidz Bop Live tours. Installments of the Kidz Bop series regularly appeared on the Billboard Top Ten and topped the Billboard Kids Albums charts, were streamed billions of times, and received numerous gold and platinum certifications. The franchise's massive success also helped launch the careers of Kidz Bop Kids alumni like Becky G and Zendaya (whose songs later appeared on Kidz Bop volumes). In the late 2010s and early 2020s, Kidz Bop became a global musical force with the launch of versions of the series in the U.K., Germany, France, and Mexico. By the time of 2025's milestone release Kidz Bop 50, which included versions of songs by Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, Kidz Bop and the Kidz Bop Kids were firmly established as long-standing yet relevant fixtures within children's music.

The brainchild of Razor & Tie label heads Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam, the first Kidz Bop compilation was released in October 2001. The collection's family-friendly renditions of songs such as LFO's "Summertime Girls" and Sugar Ray's "Fly" struck a chord with audiences, and Kidz Bop reached number one on the Billboard Kids Albums Chart and was certified gold in the U.S. The next three Kidz Bop volumes repeated this feat, with 2005's Kidz Bop 7 becoming the first of the compilations to crack the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Over the next few years, the franchise grew to include DVDs and collections of oldies, Christmas songs, and Latin pop hits. Kidz Bop also developed ringtones, toys, and a clothing line as the flagship compilations hovered near the top of the charts and earned gold certifications. After the release of 2007's Kidz Bop 12, the Kidz Bop Kids embarked on their first U.S. tour, which lasted for six months and showcased young vocalists chosen from a nationwide talent search accompanied by a rock band.

As the 2000s became the 2010s, the Kidz Bop collections continued to top the Billboard Kids Albums Chart and achieve gold status. In 2012, the first Kidz Bop show on satellite radio premiered, with a full-fledged Kidz Bop satellite radio channel following in 2014. That year also saw the release of Kidz Bop 27, which featured a cover of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" that was ultimately certified platinum. Likewise, the version of Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" on 2015's Kidz Bop 28 was also awarded platinum certification. The following year, Kidz Bop celebrated its 15th anniversary with The Life of the Party tour. The franchise also partnered with Legoland Florida, with the Kidz Bop Kids recording a version of the Legoland Ninjago theme song for park's newest section in 2017. That year, Kidz Bop expanded to the U.K. and introduced Kidz Bop Kids U.K., who appeared on the ITV talent search program The Big Audition and performed on the collections Kidz Bop and Kidz Bop 2018. Kidz Bop's first international tour launched in 2019, and took the Kidz Bop Kids to Australia, Germany, the U.K., and Mexico, as well as U.S. cities. The tour was documented by the Kidz Bop World Tour album. That year also saw the debut of the German Kidz Bop Kids with Kidz Bop Germany and the release of the U.S. collection Kidz Bop 40, which included a version of Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" that was certified platinum a few years later.

The Kidz Bop Kids kicked off the 2020s with Kidz Bop Party Playlist, which featured the original song "2020 Vision" and a rendition of Tones and I's "Dance Monkey" that became the project's fourth platinum single in the U.S. As the Stateside Kidz Bop Kids' success continued with the Billboard Kids Albums Chart-topping Kidz Bop 2021, the French and Mexican Kids Bop Kids launched with their respective versions of Kidz Bop 2022. When the COVID-19 global pandemic waned, the Kidz Bop Kids resumed their regular touring schedule in 2022. Kidz Bop became the official music partner of Chuck E. Cheese in 2023, the same year that Kidz Bop 2023 reached number one on the Kids Albums Chart. In 2025, Kidz Bop released its 50th volume. Arriving in January, Kidz Bop 50 included versions of songs by Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, and the original song "Certified BOP." ~ TiVo Staff
