All around best package for compact flying camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is not to compare the Mavic Platinum with the original Pro version, as I have no experience with that model. The Mavic Pro Platinum is an excellent compact camera platform. I would recommend it for beginners with a caveat: If you are patient and willing to fully read instructions, you'll be rewarded with reliable flight. Most likely the unit will need a firmware update out of the box. This includes the controller and battery. Follow the instructions carefully when doing this procedure, and don't install the props until after this is complete. If you buy extra batteries, you may need to do the update on them as well. Read all the FAQs, tutorials, and watch all the videos in the DJI Go app. I would recommend doing this before you fly. There is also a decent simulator in the app; you need the entire system on to use it. It is helpful to practice flying as well as using RTH (return to home). Make sure your phone battery is charged as well as the controller and copter battery. With beginner mode on, practice flying in open spaces without people/dogs/cars, etc. Make sure you have good GPS (>8 satellites) and your RTH (home point) is recorded. Check your RTH altitude setting is above any potential obstacles in the area. Be careful using the special intelligent flight modes (active tracking, quickshots etc), as they are somewhat automatic flight modes and obstacle avoidance may be deactivated. Watch your battery level. Depending on your settings, the Mavic may land unexpectedly if you get to a very low battery level while flying, and control stick inputs are not very authoritative. Also, if you fly long distances away, and there is wind, you may not make it back before the Mavic lands itself. Watch YouTube for many videos of this exact occurrence. Pros: -Very long battery life with existing Mavic Pro batteries. I doubt you will ever get 30 minutes as advertised, but 20+ min is routine, when being conservative and landing when the first battery warning pops up. Hovering in place is the least efficient flight; flying around 15 mph in calm conditions is more efficient. - Camera and gimbal are excellent. Lots of in-flight settings for both photos and video, including long exposure and bracketing. - Very stable and easy to fly - Lots of intelligent modes, and DJI will probably add more Cons: Expensive, but this isn't a toy. This is a product based on several years of refinement of DJI's other products. Until DJI has real competition, they don't need to budge much or often on their pricing. Issues I've had: - A few times, the camera autofocus gave up and I needed to land/reset power on the copter. It seems to possibly be a bug. On a final, old guy note, fly responsibly. Have fun!

Drone perfection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drone to take on my travels to get some amazing shots that would not be possible otherwise. I had never flown a drone before but this drone makes everything so simple. This drone is quite quiet and can fly for over 20 minutes. The features are numerous.

Uhm...unreal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first drone. Absolutely unreal to use this drone. However, I can’t compare it to anything else because I’ve never flown one. This thing is ridiculous. The speed, handling, and photo quality I feel are top-notch. Its very easy to use. I love it.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably there is not to much of a difference with the mavic, but those 3 extra minutos and noise reduction is a plus... if you own a mavic pro there is not reason for the upgrade, but if you planning to have one, get the platinum.
