Great 'back up' phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Moto X4 is a decent entry level phone, nothing more than that. Surprisingly Motorola has been providing Updates for the X4 for almost 2 years from release date. 32 gb storage, SD soc chip and IP68 suggest more than entry level performance, But the X4 has suffers from hiccups and stutters never encountered with other Motorola phones owned (G4 play, G5+, G6). A quirk is that on the X4 you cannot format and treat the SD card as expansion of the internal memory (unlike moto G5+, G4 play, and G6) . The softwares and Android OS updares have decreased available memory. Only photos can be adapted to be written on SD card. For some reason spotify storage setting ALWAYS reverts to internal memory setting (only on the X4 does this happen!). Because of the internal shortage memory freezes, becomes inoperable several times a week. The 3000mh battery is enough for one full day usage. At least the included 'turbo' 15w charger provides quick charges, no overnight plug in. The Moto X4 was not worth the 2hundred$ I paid for..at least Motorola keeps dropping price to make it attractive and somehow competitive in 2019. PS- case is required, glass build is slippery and fragile.

Fast, great camera, excellent battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At the current price point of $350 this is one of the top phones you can currently buy. It's super fast in which I have experienced no lag what so ever, I am currently getting 9 hours, yes you read that right..9 HOURS!! of on screen time. This is mainly used on wifi and in developer options I pretty much disable any and all apps from running in the background. The front and rear camera are excellent, a couple of software updates should continue to improve and allow for this camera to continue to also be one of the best at this price point as well. When it comes to phones I am extremely picky but Lenovo did it right with this, sd630 runs incredibly smooth, and with expandable storage, and being ip68 rated, I have nothing to complain about. Also the finger print sensor is one of the most accurate and fastest out there so be careful when sleeping, if your side chick decides to go through your stuff you might be screwed lol Good day all.

Fast reliable and...... waterproof!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone to ditch my old iPhone 7 and I was hesitant but once I tried it out and started playing with it I loved it! The cameras are decent and the speed as well. For the price, I think its a total bargain and on top they made it waterproof. WIFI calling works on Tmobile with no issues. 4GLTE is perfect as well and I could say that it has better reception than my old iPhone 7. It still has a 3.5mm jack for audio so I can still use my old headphones and the bluetooth can pair up to 4 devices simultaneously so you can stream music to all 4 devices. What other phone can do that ????

Solid value, Solid performance, Quietly Elegant
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my ASUS ZenFone Zoom with the X4 after frustrations with unpredictable and generally poor battery life. I will never buy another ASUS phone. The Moto X4 is superior in every way to any of my previous phones and simply works, without the quirks, the way you want a phone to. I'm now a fan of the Moto/Lenovo brand and will only buy phones with the stock Android OS. The Moto X4 impresses by just being a do it all type of phone. It's quietly elegant in the looks department and will impress anyone who sees it in person. Performance is solid and reliable being almost stock android; everything just works well with no signs of lagginess or unneeded mfr layers to slow things down. The LTE Modem performance also impresses with the highest throughput I've ever experienced. X4's IPS screen is bright, vibrant, and colors look great and I think it is as good as OLED in real world use. IP68 waterproofing is icing on the cake allowing you to not have to worry about environmental conditions. It's a solid phone at a reasonable price and perfect as a daily driver. I think my only gripe is the camera performance in low light is somewhat of a let down. Camera is a tad slow in focusing and pictures often times come out excessively noisy in poor lighting situations. I'm hoping the Oreo update addresses the camera low light issues. In good lighting, I found the camera to perform pretty well with well exposed and color accurate shots. Dynamic range could be better with highlights being blown out at times but manageable. Overall a solid performing, solidly built phone at a reasonable price. Moto throws in some cool features such as the ability to pair and play up to 4 different bluetooth speakers/headphones simultaneously. Moto Key, Actions, Display, and Voice overlays are all great and well integrated into the overall experience. Yes there are phones with better specs but many of them come at a higher cost and they also come with more quirks and compromises from being feature rich. Prior to the ASUS, I owned an HTC One and Samsung S5. When shopping, I also looked at the Samsung S8, LG V20, G6, and Sony XA1 and XZ; Yes, they have some wow factor but when it came down to doing the core functions, I felt the Moto X4 had what I wanted at a better value proposition. Plus I wanted a phone with less OS fluff (stock android experience). If you want a well designed phone that just simply works reliably, performs well, and has all of the right features including good battery life.... look no further.... Moto X4. Highly recommended.

90% Flagship phone functionality at 40% price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2 month ownership review: This Moto X4 compares very well to apple and samsung flagship phones. after owning and spending several hundred $s on 2 Galaxy phone that mysteriously lost performance after about a year or having their beautiful OLED screen crap out , i decided on this MoTo X4. online tech reviews rate it favorably. I decided to buy it out off recommendation by friends who are satisfied owners of other motorola phones (G4 play, G5 plus). X4 shipped with android nougat ,upon power up/set up-Oreo update was offered and updated (FYI: Moto/lenovo recently anounced this model will get the 'Pie' update as well) LIKES- the chip is fast enough for apps and performance. the Non-Oled 16X9 screen is bright enough outdoors while wearing polarized sunglasess. vividness is not Oled quality but comes very close. the IP water sealing is also unexpected for the 3hundred dollar price. the moto actions (face down= silenced, chop, chop= flashlight, pick up phone=ring stops) spoil you in no time. the blue color is striking. being an unlocked phone means unnecessary bloatware not taking up memory space. motorola phones are great at being compatible with pretty much all cell carriers (ive already tried 2 diff. GSM prepaid services: no hiccups, great coverage). the front LED camera flash is a plus for the selfies. DISLIKES- 32GB is not enough for midlevel phone spec. traditional 16X9 screen has huge 'forehead' and 'chin', bezels are ancient. LED notification light is absent. the 'dual lens' camera only produces great outdoor photos, but dark scenes challenge focus (quality subpar to my previous Samsung galaxy photos). the glass and aluminum finish REQUIRE case (3 days W/O case resulted in slips, drops with all 4 aluminum corners slightly dented!). im waiting for it to go onsale again for tooHundred$ and purchase another X4 as a gift (often sale priced)

Great Quality Smooth phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a sony phone and it was c r a p. Motorola always made great quality phones in the past, so I gave them a shot within my $350 range budget. No phone should cost more than $500. Didn't want anything that looks cheap, so I paid for quality with the X4. Phone looks very good, sleek and shinny like ceramic. (GET A CASE. SLIPS OFF SURFACES VERY EASILY. CRACKED MY BACK IN 4 DAYS) . Good high grade processor (you may find in more expensive phones), and enough RAM. camera is even impressive. Camera has OBJECT RECOGNITION! Dual lens looks cool and front selfie camera is very high on Megapixels. One of the highest on the market across all phones. One sale for $350 and had to get it. So far so good. If there's no new Huawei phone on the market for ~$350, this is the phone to get.

Decent phone at mid-range price point
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I "upgrade" from my 5 yrs old Galaxy S4 to the mid tier X4, so there is some improvement, and some regression The upgrade 1) The battery last longer. 2) Device runs cooler 4) finger print sensor 5) Bluetooth connection is very solid 6) USB C quick charge 7) Camera is slightly better, angle is very wide, with distortion, low light performance is better. front camera has 16MP. 8) Front firing speaker is loud, and sounds better than what you expect from a tiny speaker. 9) IP68 Water resistent The regression 1) It is heavier. 2) No dedicate button for "back" and "menu", the "one button nav" works, but it is not a replacement of the "back" button. 3) No HDMI output, the S4 is a very good amazon video/youtube player for TV. 4) Display is not OLED, but the LTPS IPS looks fine. 5) The pre-installed email client does not work for my exchange account 6) No calendar notification/alarm at lock screen as on the S4 Overall, it is a very decent phone at $299.

Great phone for under $300.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid $$299. For the Moto X4. 32gb. Had a Samsung S4 that was too old now to keep up.. I paid $60 for it with old upgrade deals that don't exist anymore. Just hate the high phone $$, now. So this was my best option and does a good job with good speed an capability, and a much better price than a samsung or iPhone. No regrets at all with this phone. If you just need a good phone for internet, pictures, & calls, it's a 5star, I rated it a 4 overall because the other expensive phones have a few extra features in camera mode, but not worth extra $300+ to me. Camera is solid quality on this Moto X4 32gb. I added my SD card 64gb I had put in my old phone, it's great!

Q: QuestionIs this the same phone that Google is selling off their project fi website? The picture on the Best Buy page doesn't show the Android One logo like it does on the Google website. I wanted to make sure that this version is indeed the same device
Asked by CJ.
- A:Answer No, this is the unlocked Motorola version, which includes all of Motorola's software add-ons and will be supported by Motorola, including software updates. The Project Fi version is only available from Google and its stock software updates will be provided by Google, not Motorola.
Answered by Roldefol
Q: QuestionDoes it work with Google Project Fi service?
Asked by Fin.
- A:Answer According to Motorola's website it is compatible with Project Fi. And, on Project Fi's website, it is one of the phones listed as "bring your own phone."
Answered by unlocked4me
Q: QuestionIs this compatible with Google's Project Fi and Verizon?
Asked by BillyGoat.
- A:Answer It is compatible with Project Fi. Project Fi has tie up with T Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular. Whichever has powerful signal will take precedence. If your question is specific to a separate Verizon connection. Answer is Yes. This phone is unlocked and supports both GSM (AT&T, T Mobile....) and/or CDMA(Verizon, Sprint....)

Q: QuestionDoes this phone have the amazon ads that pop up on notification bar? i read online some of these phone versions have amazon ads and “it takes $50 for removing the amazon ad subscription via amazon website”
Asked by phone2phablet2017.
- A:Answer I purchased my x4 in 10/29. I use it with AT&T and it has no ads from Amazon. The phone is unlocked and has no carrier bloatware to deal with. IT is as close to a pure android experience as you can get at this price point. IF you want a phone that performs well with the latest features, without breaking the bank, the X4 might be a good choice for you.

Q: QuestionCan I get this phone activated with my Cricket Carrier at my Best Buy Store
Asked by Carla.
- A:Answer Be advised that an unlocked phone does not get "Activated". If you already have an active Sim card from your carrier, all you should need to do is properly insert the Sim into the phone, power it on and wait for the phone to read the networks that's being transmitted. Of course, once you get the bars and LTE/4G symbols, make a voice call, send texts and try to web browse to make sure everything does run properly.

Q: QuestionDoes this phone work with Republic wireless?
Asked by CraigDavid.
- A:Answer Yes, my wife uses hers on Republic. Just make sure to set up your account for BYOP (bring your own phone)
Answered by Peter
Q: Questionwill have 64gb version?
Asked by Ivan.
- A:Answer The US variant is only 32/3. That said, it has a micro SD card slot, so it's not a big deal
Answered by KarKar
Q: QuestionThan why do the employees at best buy never want to connect a unlocked phone to the boost network?
Asked by Gabby.
- A:Answer We CAN activate unlocked phones on Boost Mobile. Just buy the Boost Mobile BYOP SIM card kit (can't just swap your current SIM unfortunately) and we can activate it right from our computers or call into Boost for you. It's not as much about making money, but also providing great customer service. Unfortunately not all Best Buys are created equal, if an associate tells you they can't then they are not only lying to you, but just don't want to do it. I wish it weren't that way. :( So find someone who will help you (which you shouldn't have to, they should find you). If that happens again I would ask to speak to the Manager on duty. Hope this helps.
