Following a further period of growth, Barefoot are looking for a public relations specialist to join their team based at their office near Wadebridge, north Cornwall.

You’ll be working with a fantastic group of tourism, food and drink, property, interiors and events clients, as part of a friendly and supportive team.

The role is perfect for someone with previous public relations or journalism experience. The position would suit an experienced Account Manager looking to find a new and exciting challenge with one of the region’s leading agencies.

About the role

You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and reporting of campaigns for your own client accounts. Work will include PR, email marketing, content creation and social media strategy. You will also manage and mentor junior members of the team.

Strong writing skills are key: you will research and draft a wide range of content, from blog posts and press releases to website landing pages, email marketing copy and social media updates.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of delivering successful media campaigns for clients in the travel, hospitality, property and interiors sectors, and will bring a great set of contacts for journalists and influencers.

There is clear career progression available within the agency and plenty of opportunities for the right candidate to develop new skills and experience.

Main responsibilities

  • Client campaign planning, execution and monitoring.
  • Media liaison with journalists working in travel, food and drink, events, property and interiors.
  • Securing features and research-driven media coverage.
  • Research and draft copy for a wide range of applications.
  • Take ownership for the management and delivery of key projects.
  • Liaise with clients regularly (responding to briefs, attending meetings, status reporting, information seeking, managing milestones and approvals).
  • Carry out research for existing projects and new business.
  • Research and prepare project documentation, presentations, analysis and reports.

Skills required

Essential

  • Experience in public relations or journalism.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Excellent creative and news writing skills. Flawless spelling and punctuation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and passion for digital and social media.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the food & drink, property and tourism industries.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A strong contact book of national travel, property, and food and drink journalists.
  • Be able to travel independently around Cornwall.

Desirable

  • Experience of using Wordpress CMS, Campaign Monitor, and databases.
  • Experience of using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Experience of using video editing software.
  • Experience of using analytics packages.
  • Photography and image editing.
  • An understanding of SEO.

  • Managing director.
