We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre.
We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre. Did go into Paignton. Quite busy on the seafront. The pier is mainly a big arcade. We couldn't access to the end of the pier when we went . Didn't go into the shopping centre.
We did get a Chinese take away from Rickshaw Boy and ate it in the car overlooking the sea ( made a change to fish and chips) We spent the day at the Zoo which was well worth it. Saw baby orangutan amongst other animals.
We went to Totnes which is a quirky place full of boutique shops, cafes and had a lovely feel about it.

Paignton has a lovely long beach and is very safe for families ,but the tide comes up to the promenade in places, it is easy to get onto the beach, not completely sandy but still able to make sandcastles. there is lots of activities too crazy golf, kids rollercoaster etc. we ate at the hotel but there are a lot of restuarants to choose from. an awful lot of amusement arcades there. it is flat to walk around, but not too many shops around

The pier and the harbour was great, the side streets with arcades and gift shops and town looked run down and dirty nothing like it used to look years ago.
Paignton has changed so much and not for the better.

Paignton is your typical bucket and spade family holiday with amusement arcades and lots of places to eat. Wonderful beach and promenade with pier. There are many other small beaches within walking distance along the coast path including goodrington sands.
Excellent transport links for trips to Brixham and Torquay plus the famous zoo.

Paignton has a long flat beach, with plenty of gardens and a long promenade. There’s plenty of parking,(to pay)a good range of easily accessible shops from the front, and a local cinema there. The bus and train stations are very handy, and I can throughly recommend the buses, which run every 10 minutes, and gave me free access to Brixham and Torquay.A much easier option than worrying about going in the car,and the difficulties involved in finding a parking space.

Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell...
Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell (too cold to partake) and a very pleasant esplanade. Main street has too many casiono/slot machines for our taste but also plenty of bars and cafes. Henry's Bar seemed the best with more real ales than the others.
Paignton bus station is a hub for transport to neighbouring towns, such as Totnes and Brixham, and including Exeter and Plymouth further afield. Also a regular train service to Exeter and beyond (Teignmouth and Dawlish especially). Steam trains to KIngswear for Dartmouth on selected days (Note: buy a return ticket even if you plan to only go one way by train as it covers the ferry crossing both ways). Great fish restaurants in Brixham by the harbour.
The room was spacious and we were upgraded to the balcony room for free. JoDee was so kind, even dropping off our favorite tea (the box had corgis on it!)! Owners JoDee and James are super personable and available for questions. It felt like staying with family. The ocean views are absolutely spectacular with views of Paignton and Brixham. It's right by the beach but you're away from the noisy crowds but still close to food. And our balcony was amazing! We had dinner and drinks with family several times while we were there.
2nd visit for me and my 3 year old. The pool is fabulous, the rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are super friendly. The breakfast is nice too, very accommodating of the 3 year olds fussy palette! Perfect base, next to the beach, close to shops and restaurants. I actively seek this hotel every time I look at going to Paignton, (which is only an hour on the train from my home so the stay isnt actually necessary) purely cos I like staying there! Will no doubt be back again.
I went here in off season so the hotel was not very busy. It was no problem to stay one night longer and even cheaper (for that you should call the hotel and not book via booking.com). Everything is very clean and you have even a kettle with coffee and tea ind the room which I found very helpful since I am usually with a tent and camping gas. The beach and city centre are very close. The host was very helpful, considerate and I liked to chat with her.
The hosts left us a little welcome pack, the cottage was immaculate and nothing was too much trouble if needed any questions answering. The cottage is literally a 10 minute stroll from Paignton station, the beach and town centre. There is a car park a one minute walk away and you can buy 4/8 or monthly passes from the council or pay £8.50 per 24 hours. Would definitely stay here again as brilliant location to travel around the Devon coast
The Channel View hotel was delightful. From our welcome to the very end. The rooms were to an extremely high standard and it felt as if we were the first to stay in them. The sea view was to die for. Hosts Peter and Ruth were magnificent. Their personal approach, friendly nature and general hospitality made it a perfect stay. We have certainly found our No1 hotel and will certainly be booking this every time we visit this part of Devon
Lovely clean comfortable guest house set in a very convenient central location. The guest house has onsite parking which is a real bonus in Paignton. The owners were really, friendly, helpful and accommodating. We actually left an expensive beauty product behind, which the owners alerted us to very quickly and posted to us straight away. Lovely guest house, would highly recommend.
Lovely little hotel and very close to Paignton seafront. Was made to feel Very Welcome . Hosts made sure I had everything I needed and nothing was too much trouble. I opted for room only this time , little cheaper than B&B rate , good to have the choice. Room was cleaned every day and tea, coffee milks were topped up which was nice not having to ask for extra when they ran low.
The palace hotel was brilliant the staff worked very hard and they were all very professional we had a room with a sea view which looked out over Paignton which was really nice breakfast was good with loads of choices we had the evening meal as well which was 5 courses a little overpriced but really good I can’t really fault this hotel and can’t wait to visit again thank you
Location is a few hundred yards from the seafront promenade and paignton's main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel offers breakfast in the price and was a fabulous full english or of your own menu desire. The hotel was very clean throughout. Good value for money.
Breakfast was very good location fine we were able to ask for milk water and teabags we asked also for toilet rolls but felt this should have been replaced in our rooms because the hotel is closing in September I feel the owner has lost interest
Beth.Mel.yacub.Martin and Guy are just a few names to mention that made our stay memorable they couldn't do enough to help there friendly service was beyond there pay grade we will definitely be returning to this hotel
A massive thank you
The hotel was great,, the staff welcoming and helpful, always wore a warm welcoming smile. The room was comfortable and facilities were fine and what we expected. When we return to Paignton we will definitely return to The Esplanade
Very close to the seafront with lots of attractions within walking distance, including a cinema. Breakfast was excellent. Mo and her family are lovely and the rooms were clean. This is a great base for exploring South Devon.
Spotlessly clean. Perfect position for Paignton. Free parking. It was cold when I was there but the rooms and hotel were nice and warm. Staff very helpful and polite. Perfect stay at a good rate. Will visit again.
Location a few hundred yards from paignton seafront promenade and the main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel was super clean. Beautiful views across paignton seafront. Good value for money.
