- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2024TLDR: best stain remover I have ever used & one of the best purchases I’ve made. I rinse, wash with this bar, rinse again, then throw in washer & do my usual laundry routine. For severe stains - rinse, wash, rinse, then cover stain (both sides) with ample soap from the bar, then throw in washer without rinsing & follow laundry routine. Hasn’t failed me yet!
***TRIGGER WARNING*** —> women’s issues & bodily fluids discussed
It took me a while to really try this bar out
— I didn’t have anything to dry it on & I can’t stand the goopy bottom when soap bars dry on something completely flat. (I still don’t have anything “proper” to dry it on, but it actually doesn’t get goopy anyway!!).
I got this bar to deal with menstrual stains. I have an irregular cycle & extreme bleeding (the kind that severely impacts my life … like I can’t even exit the shower “normally” for at least 8 days every month). I tend to use “disposable period panties” (“adult underwear” for periods) most of the time, but I always get caught off guard with a huge gush from Niagara Falls when it starts. So I needed a GOOD stain remover for my underwear, pants/jeans, socks, pajamas, jackets, bedding, couch covers, etc. Basically for anything that could be near my crotch or under my crotch while standing up is fair game. And allll the stain removers in the laundry aisle don’t work for my problem (oxi clean works great for my kids clothes tho).
Enter this laundry bar. I got the tiny one from The Laundress at the same time — it did nothing my laundry soap couldn’t do. I have 2 super special needs kids & 2 less special needs kids, so I don’t have a lot of spare time to do stuff just for me (like hand washing stains from my clothes when they happen, or even doing my laundry when it happens). Sometimes my stuff just has to wait until all the other laundry is done (clothes, towels, bedding for 6 people is a LOT).
Even when my stains have sat for 5 days (waiting for Friday night “free time”) it STILL comes out!! I rinse as much out as I can, then wash the area with soap from the bar. Sometimes I wash more than once, depending on how bad the stain is & how much of it I can rinse out before washing. I’ll do a final rinse & then throw it in the washer doing my normal routine. If the stain is really bad, I don’t rinse the soap out. I’ll wash it as much as I can, rinse it out & wring excess water; then load both sides of the stain with ample soap & leave it on to throw it in the wash like that. It hasn’t discolored anything I’ve used it on (or washed it with), doesn’t change the texture & the scent washes out too. I can’t really remember what it smells like — but I’m super sensitive to smell (I still use my face mask in stores bc other people’s perfumes & cologne make me nauseous from feeling like there’s an ice pick in my head) & this doesn’t bother me at all. I know it smells like flowery soap or something but it isn’t overpowering & doesn’t give me a headache like most things. The Laundress bar smells weird, like men’s cologne (& not a good one either).
This bar is absolutely amazing & has not failed me yet!!! While I’m hand washing, the stain doesn’t always fully come out. I’ll be bummed thinking I ruined my clothes, but then the remaining stains come out in the wash (I have an he top loader with no agitator). I don’t know if running it through a delicate cycle will be enough, but I always use cold water & low heat in the dryer to extend the life of my clothes.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020This product is like the magic “eraser” for stains! I keep it handy in the upstairs bathroom to easy pre-treat stains without having to go downstairs to the laundry room. Super convenient and makes the bathroom smell nice too. It definitely scents the entire bathroom, but for us this is not a problem, it’s kind of like an air freshener.
I’ve used it on oil stains and grass stains with success. But more importantly in our house....
It’s like MAGIC on breastfed baby poop stains! No more baby clothes lost to my baby’s super staining poop! Rejoice! I simply rinse the affected area of clothing to get residue off in the sink, then rub the stain completely with this bar. I suds the area by rubbing back and forth with both hands on both sides of the fabric, and add more of the bar if it’s not completely sudsy. If I’m about to do a load of laundry, I’ll throw it in as is at this point, but if I’m not going to do a load soon, I rinse the garment and repeat this process once more and rinse, then hang up over the shower rod until the day I do laundry. It takes the baby poop out COMPLETELY. I rave about this product to anyone who will listen!
The scent is fresh and clean although artificial. It does linger after washing as well but I don’t mind. It does have artificial dye in it to make it yellow. I’d personally rather have a free and clear product, but this product’s ingredients are much better than other stain removers that don’t even have an ingredient label to compare to. The ease of use and effectiveness make up for these things for us, and it isn’t used on every article of clothing. The price also cannot be beat. One bar has lasted us over a month and we’re still going. I’d also rather not have stained, ruined baby clothes so there’s that too!
Highly, highly recommend for general purpose stain treating, but especially for baby stains!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Baseball pants dream
Actually works. I wet my boys white or grey baseball pants and then wipe the bar over the grass and clay stains. I let it sit for a few minutes and gently run a brush over the spot. I throw them into the wash and they come out perfect. Will buy again when I run out.
One bar has lasted all season and I'm not even close to being done.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Oldie but a Goodie!
I wish this laundry bar was available in Canada... and even so, it's hard to find in stores. I immediately noticed the strong fragrance of this large bar, sort of an herbal, lemony clean scent. Not unpleasant, but potent. I keep the bar by my kitchen sink, so as to treat food splatters as they happen. The bonus is that when cooking fish or broccoli, the scent masked the funky smell that tends to linger for a day or so.
I had been keeping some of my son's jeans aside that had grass stains on the knees. I had read how well this bar worked on baseball dirt (that will definitely be something to try) I figured grass stains on knees would definitely be worth trying to remove. I wet the stained knees, rubbed the Fels-Naptha into the spots, and rubbed the fabric against itself. I gathered the rest of the laundry up, thus allowing the soap about 10 minutes to sit on the stains. I washed with slightly less detergent than usual in a HE machine. Once finished, the knees were completely grass-stain free, and everything smelled lovely and clean. I will absolutely be trying this soap on numerous items that find their way into the wash.
