Our mugs feature a detail from Irises (1890) by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890). In May 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, Van Gogh painted an exceptional group of four still lifes, to which the Museum's Irises belongs. Magnificent in their ease of execution and graceful simplicity of design, these bouquets were imagined as a decorative ensemble, like the suite of sunflowers he had made earlier in Arles.

I just sat down with a cup of coffee and with all the bad things going on around us these days, wanted to share this small source of Joy for me! had been searching for the perfect mugs to place on a shelf above my "coffee station" in my home kitchen area. (I know, not the biggest issue for someone to deal with, but nothing wrong with enjoying things of beauty when you can!) I had seen these mugs in Met catalogue last Christmas season and they caught my eye - the colors are very pretty, perfect accents for my room colors, in an open floor plan. While they are obviously flowers, the artist style of course makes them more interesting than just the basic painting of a flower. My daughter bought them for me as a gift. So happy with them I want to use them every time I reach for a mug - plan to get more! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because, although porcelain, the lip is not quite as thin as I like on a mug. I like the elegance of a porcelain tea cup in the convenience of a mug. I have gotten use to that though because the colors and design are so beautiful. Also, would be even nicer if could be made in USA. That would be nice to see - a _x000D_

Love this mug, particularly for how it feels when held. Unlike many mugs, this one has a handle and cup that are in perfect balance. Very disappointed, however, that the design has faded in a major way from cleaning mugs in dishwasher. Am ordering another set that will be hand-washed only. Buyers should be cautuioned to wash by hand.
These mugs are just lovely, and I have put them where guests can easily reach to grab a cup of coffee or soup. Not too large, nor to small, they invite the eye as well as the hand and mouth.
Irises are my favorite flower, and these mugs bring me great joy when I use them. They are dishwasher and microwave safe and a perfect size for a nice cup of tea with friends.I got the first two as a gift and decided to add four more to my collection.
