- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2022Just like all the other Welcome to the museum books this book is stunning. My kid is showing interest in Dinosaur's so he's going to like this book, it's a struggle trying to pronounce Dinosaurs names but I'll try my best lol. I bought it for my son's Christmas, It was delivered in less than a week and it came in perfect condition.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2018This book is huge! The illustrations are beautiful. The images are labeled as plates, and you can find a description for each plate. My dinosaur crazy son loves this book. It does use standard dating terminology, dating dinosaurs millions of years old. That might bother some people, but it seems to come standard with dinosaur things. My four year old calls this his museum book. He loves it.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2020I’m seeing many reviews saying this book is not for younger kids. If you have a dinosaur obsessed child, I’d consider getting this book. We checked it out of our library and I thought it would be too dry for him. It reads like a textbook. But he demands every page be read and not skip anything. I do paraphrase and simplify the vocabulary as I read so that it is more accessible to him. I like how it divides the sections into different time frames rather than by species of dinosaur. I don’t know much about dinosaurs nor have much interest in them, and I find this book informative and helpful to me in understanding the topic my child loves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book, one to treasure
I was really surprised when the book arrived as it was much bigger than I anticipated. The quality of the images and information is exceptional — it was bought as a gift for my daughters friend but we loved looking through it so much, that it’s now on her Christmas list this year! I am no dinosaur expert, so for a starting/entry point this felt like a lot of detailed information that I’m sure a lot the children would get a lot from the book/images the older they get/can read and study more independently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifuly presented with plenty of fascinating information
Dinosaurium presents itself as a walk through a dinosaur museum, and is arranged correspondingly.
It starts out with a branching tree (cladogram) showing the current understanding of dinosaur species' ancestries.
Then each of three periods of dinosaur evolution are covered chronologically, with an example of what fauna probably looked like in each, and a description of the mass extictions that punctuate each age.
The book concludes with a look at some animals generally thought of as dinosaurs but which are not in the dinosaur family.
Illustrations throughout are detailed and capture the imagination. All the popular dinosaurs are included along with plenty of lesser known species. Descriptions are detailed enough that all but the most knowledgeable dinosaur enthusaists will learn something interesting.
Highly recommended.
