Sleek design, unfortunately too slow for my taste
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an avid Mac user-have been for 12 years now-between mac books, iPads, iPhones, Apple TV, and even time capsule-I prefer Mac over any other brand for simplicity sake. My primary use for this 21.5” iMac is photo editing and web use. I found this 3.0 GHz processor thinking for too long of periods at a time between applications. The 4K screen has crystal clear resolution to my eye’s desire. I did, however, feel the screen was a bit small even with having a small writers desk. This 21.5” has a nice price point at just over $1k, but all in all, I wasn’t 100% satisfied with my purchase and decided to exchange it for the 27” 3.4GHz-which the extra .4GHz does the trick for my liking! Best Buy gave me some difficulty with the purchasing process (I price matched-but customer service rep didn’t do it correctly and I had to go back to the store several times...additionally, I purchased Microsoft Office personal to go with the iMac-which I found out they failed to activate upon purchase when I got home-so that was another trip back to Best Buy). I would still buy electronics through Best Buy again just for their decent price matching policy..but as for software, I will be going elsewhere in the future! Overall a great basic computer if you are looking to transition into using Apple products-but still would suggest paying the extra $500 or so to upgrade to the 27”-it’s worth it!

Awesome Apple Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first iMac and it is replacing an old MacBook Pro. The machine is very sleek and streamlined like most of Apples computers today. Setup was a breeze as only a power cord needed to be hooked up to power it up, I add my WiFi password and and I was on my way to personalized setup. The included, rechargeable Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are awesome too; the keyboard is small and doesn’t take up a ton of space on the desk, but is plenty big for my hands to fit comfortably. The basic Mac software came pre-installed, such as the the iWork suite, GarageBand, etc. and there is more than enough memory and processing power to add more. I truly love Mac products and their ease of use, dependability and longevity.

Works like a computer should
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apple has made great products...and this is another one of them. It’s fast, precise, and exactly what it should.

Great for gaming, development
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this so I could upgrade my cpu from my early 2011 MBP. Was disappointed at first because the speed seemed comparable with my MBP but then I downloaded borderlands 2 and was instantly hooked. Handles multiple development processes simultaneously with ease. Haven’t edited images or video yet but I imagine that’s solid too, considering the overall efficiency.

great looking but still non upgradable.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First time iMac user, a longtime windows fan. I must say I'm impressed with the easy setup, well designed hardware but I wasn't happy to know that I have to re - do my home network to make this work seamlessly with some of my hardwares. Overall, I'm a happy camper, although it took me awhile to convince myself, if the price worth it? Well, up to you to find out.

Great computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this computer. It’s the easiest I’ve ever used. I’m so glad I went with an iMac. My iPhone links up with it and is hassle free operating.

Q: QuestionI am buying 21.5" iMac Intel Core i5 (3.0GHz). Is this imac also the latest model in 2017?
Asked by imacowner.
- A:Answer The model I bought last week at Best Buy has the 4K Retina display, so the 3.0 processor is definitely the latest.
Answered by jdbm
Q: QuestionSo does this model come with a solid state hard drive or tradition HDD? I'm seeing conflicting information.
Asked by Spiralizer.
- A:Answer It uses both SSD and traditional HDD components, in a very clever way. The SSD and HHD components appear as a single large hard drive. Apple's website says it uses the Fusion hard drive. Fusion drives keeps track of which files you use the most, including operating system files, your favorite apps, even documents and songs. The frequently-used files are moved to SSD, but you won't be aware of it. They'll just run faster. If you stop using a file, or use others more often, the old file will be moved back to the HDD, and the newer/more used files placed on SSD. It's nice because you get SSD speed for the things you do the most, but a full terabyte of storage for pictures, movies and all your other stuff that is accessed less frequently.

Q: QuestionI use a pc for store pictures, word documents write letters etc,Surf web.mail, Facebook I want a desk top and I don't want to buy some super pc that I don't need can you recommend?
Asked by Tom.
- A:Answer Tom, this is what I use mine for. You might be paying a bit more for a Mac then some stand alone PC but I learned years ago that the Mac seems to last longer and more easily integrates with everything else in life that I do.

Q: QuestionIf we aren't gamers or heavy users, which model should we get, 2.3, 3.0, or 3.4 GHz. Hate to get older techology, if that matters in this case.
Asked by Roy.
- A:Answer I have a new iMac with the 3.0 GHz processor that I use primarily for internet surfing and Word documents. For the most part, it is acceptably fast for these tasks but no speed demon in my opinion; however, there are times when it does seem to be lacking in power. Based on that assessment, I would not recommend the 2.3 GHz processor unless budget constraints demand it. If you want the latest in technology, you might consider custom ordering an iMac with the 3.0 GHz processor and upgrading it to the fusion hard drive (one that combines a traditional, spinning hard drive with a solid state drive). The upgrade costs $100 and should provide a performance improvement. Alternatively, the fusion hard drive does come standard on the model with the 3.4 GHz processor.

Q: QuestionWhat else do I need to purchase with this product? Track pad, keyboard accessories back up? I need to replace a Mac Pro and trying to cut expenses. IMac and a IPad less costly?
Asked by KK.
- A:Answer KK, you are all set. It comes with mouse and keyboard so you need nothing else. Perhaps an external CD/DVD drive if you need one. It does not need to be Apple branded. Pease see my review for other details. Yes- this is cheaper than a Pro and has the screen built in so it is an all-in-one unit, with great resale value so many of these have ended up on eBay and helped finance the next Mr. Rheydt.

Q: QuestionIs the the one with the graphics card separated for better graphics?
Asked by Dana.
- A:Answer Yes, this has a discrete graphics card (a Radeon Pro 555 graphics processor with up to 4GB video memory). With a Retina screen, a discrete graphics card is a necessity.
