I needed a good home "dust buster", and one that will last. I'm tired of buying other ones and they wear out within a year or so. This one works great. Lots of suction. It is a little loud, but sounds like a Vacuum. It is a little bigger and heavier than home dust busters. The filter on it works really great. It's super easy to clean, and it doesn't blow dust out when you start the vacuum. Also, the holding tank is easy to remove and clean also. I also really like that the hose can be removed for hard to get places. I think it's a great vacuum for the shop or the house, which is what I use it for.
I've owned quite a few hand-held cleaners, but this is the best one yet. - It's very sturdy! Perfect for the home or job site. - It has great suction power, and the detachable hose is very useful for small places. - The battery life is great. It uses the same 18v Dewalt battery from my drill. - It's not too heavy. - It's very easy to dump the debris. Just one latch. All in all, I'm very happy with this hand-held cleaner. It has far better suction and battery life than I have seen from any other hand-held.
If you're looking for a compact vacuum with industrial strength, the DeWalt DC515K is up to the task. It's a well built, easy to use tool, and it's a 'wet or dry' design.

I bought this for my wife to use around the house when her dust buster quit. I figured "Dewalt makes good stuff so why not give it a try". I was amazed by how much this thing will pick up. We have sucked up everything you can think of and it is awesome for cleaning out the car or truck. I have dewalt 18v tools already so I have 4 batteries so I wasn't too worried about how long the battery lasts but we were again shocked at how long it did. I would suggest getting another battery for it if you don't have any extras. It could be a little frustrating if you forgot to put it on the charger after the last use and it goes dead right away. All in all it is a great addition to any house or shop.
The first thing I noticed is that this one is very very noisy. It literally howls. I have several large ShopVacs that have 10 times more suction that are quieter. Don't know if this is true of all DC515K's. I bought mine used, it looked new open box, on e-bay and it may be the reason that it was re-sold.Its been my experience that vacuum's get noisy when the bearings go at old age.I hope this isn't an indication of this one being short lived?? It does have good suction, is easy to empty and has pretty good balance used with one hand. Used mostly around the fireplace but is very handy any time small jobs don't require dragging out a big vacuum. Overall, pretty well satisified since I paid half of new price. I would be much less happy with it if I had paid $100+ retail. I run Li-ions and get about 10 minutes run time between chargings.Read full review
