Excellent Ultrabook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even with this unit being the previous generation of the Stealth 13 - I honestly can't complaint. I say get them while you still can. With a 2K touch screen, quad core I7, 16GB RAM, 512 M.2 SSD, great looks and an awesome keyboard - it's definitely one of the best buys you can fine right now.
I would recommend this to a friend Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Everything I hoped it would be and more
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this laptop. It’s so satisfying to use, and it just looks and feels amazing to me. I had been searching for a laptop, specifically a 13 inch "Ultrabook" for over a year before buying this one. My old laptop was an MSI 15 inch, and while it did pretty much everything I threw at it with relative ease, it was just too big and had no battery life, thus I would have to haul the 2-pound charger along with the 4-pound laptop in my backpack. Not ideal for a college student. This laptop is perfect for me and I have a lot to say about it, so bear with me (or just skip through it). I fell in love with the design of the Blade Stealth back when it first came out, but I was wary of buying it because of the risks involved. If you know anything about Razer's QA and customer service reputation, you know what risks I'm talking about. When I was finally able to buy a laptop, I considered the Blade Stealth, Yoga 920, Dell XPS 13, and MacBook Pro; I needed something light with 16 GB RAM, a fast processor, and enough battery life to get me through the day. I eventually narrowed it down to the Blade Stealth and the XPS 13. My heart wanted the Blade Stealth, my head said go for the best deal, and it just so happened I was able to get a much better deal with the Razer (even after taxes and Geek-Squad plan I paid $100 less than retail for the Dell). I bought this laptop as an open-box, excellent condition, Geek-Squad certified for about $200 less than new. I also bought a year of Geek-Squad protection for peace of mind. I likely would not have purchased any extra warranty or protection for any other laptop brand but considering Razer's past and the fact that they make you pay to ship your laptop to them (!!!) I wanted to be able to take it into Best Buy if anything happened. Time will tell if that was a good investment or not, but they say you can't put a price on peace of mind. It’s been three days now and I’ve had no real issues, so I’m feeling confident enough that this unit will hold up. I’ll update this review if anything does happen. When I first set it up, I of course had to update Windows being that this laptop was produced in late 2017 and I bought it almost a year later. It took a while to download the update so while I waited I was playing around with the laptop settings and everything. For some reason, it was running rather hot even though I wasn't doing anything remotely intensive. It also had a short expected battery life when unplugged of about 3 hours. This was confusing to me, but I thought maybe the update would resolve it. And it did. After updating Windows, my laptop runs cool as a cucumber and the expected battery life is about 8 hours. So, if you buy this laptop, DO NOT FREAK OUT BEFORE YOU HAVE FINISHED UPDATING IT. If it still acts up after the update, then you should be worried. Alright, now for the pros and cons. Pros: ---Very good design. The Blade Stealth is elegant yet bold and reminds me a bit of a Porsche in that way. It may be a little too bold for some, but there are solutions. If you're not keen on having the glowing razer logo on the back or the flashy RGB keyboard, don't worry. You can turn off the lighting of the logo in Razer Synapse and give the keyboard a simple white backlighting as well, which is what I'm using while typing this. The gunmetal version of the laptop comes standard with these features, as the logo is simply a black sticker and the keyboard has only white backlighting. If you really hate the logo, you can buy a dbrand skin and cover it up (the dbrand is a must-buy, it protects the laptop from scratches and eliminates fingerprints, which will be all over this thing from the moment you take it out of the box). Other nice design features include well-placed speakers, a nice centered power button above the keyboard, adequately-sized touchpad, and thick rubber strips that run across the bottom of the laptop to keep it from sliding. My old laptop had several small rubber bits glued on to serve this purpose, and most of them came off due to heat, so I appreciate this feature a lot. ---Build quality is fantastic, at least externally. Not planning to open this thing up anytime soon but I have heard about some Razer products being a little sketchy under the hood. As soon as you pick this thing up, you can feel the quality. The CNC-milled aluminum feels very premium and gives you a nice balance of sturdiness and weight, as it is only about 3 pounds. ---The screen is fantastic. Not quite 4k but for a 13-inch laptop you probably don't want/need that anyway. The picture is so crisp, and as a bonus, it's a touch screen! I tend to forget that I have it but it's a nice thing to have at your disposal. ---The touchpad is very smooth. It’s not on the MacBook’s level, but it blows the touchpad on my MSI out of the water. Very pleasing to use and you can customize the three and four finger gestures in the Windows settings to maximize efficiency. Note: the default setting for the touchpad sensitivity is high, so you may want to adjust that. ---Port selection is very good. These days most 13-inch laptops feature mostly USB-C ports (or exclusively USB-C, in Apple's case). The Blade Stealth has one for charging, but also features two USB-A 3.0, a headphone jack, and an HDMI so you can hook it up to your TV. ---The backlit keyboard is fun. There are several cool effects you can implement in Razer Synapse, but ultimately, this shouldn't be a huge factor in your purchasing decision, just a nice bonus. ---The 8th gen quad-core i7 combined with 16 gigs of RAM and 512 gigs of SSD means this baby can do most anything and do it very fast. That is to say, anything that doesn't require an advanced graphics card. You will need an external GPU to do any heavy gaming or high-res photo/video editing or rendering. The Razer Core can provide this, but it is very expensive, and you won't have any mobility with it. I don’t consider this a con though because most laptops of this size don’t have advanced graphics cards either. There’s just not a way to fit them in a small and light chassis and still maintain good thermals. Cons: ---Speakers could be better. They get loud enough, but sound quality isn’t great. Definitely better than Dell XPS or Lenovo Yoga which have their speakers in idiotic positions, but not as good as some other laptops. ---Battery life is not great. 7-8 hours is about the least acceptable amount of battery life for me, and for some that may not be enough. Fortunately, the charger is light so it's not a literal and figurative back-breaker to have to carry both like it was for my last laptop. ---One thing about the keyboard that really bugs me: the secondary characters on the keys are not backlit. I really don't understand this decision at all, it's about as boneheaded as putting a webcam at the bottom of the screen even after every single reviewer on the planet complains about it, or only refreshing models with the Touch Bar even after most people find it useless or hindering to type with (exhale). I guess Razer figured everyone would memorize exactly where every secondary character is on the keyboard. I just don't get it. But, would it even be a laptop if it didn't have some sort of idiotic and easily avoidable design flaw? (secondary characters, if you don't know what I mean: $#%&()* and the function keys like volume up/down/off, brightness up/down, etc.) Bottom Line: The Blade Stealth is as good as it gets for a 13-inch Windows with high RAM and processing power. The design is attractive, the screen is beautiful, and the keyboard is fun. If you can afford a protection plan and have access to repair services, I would absolutely recommend the Razer Blade Stealth.

One of the best ultrabooks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a new laptop for over two years. My old one just couldn't keep up with ever growing college courses worth of work. I realized to get something that would last years and be semi-future proof I would need to get into the ultrabooks range. My old laptop was Dell and I just had a bad experience in total. The first hard drive (that came with the laptop) crashes. I lost everything, was able to fix it. Until it crashed again, tried to get it recovered. Turned out the total cost of maybe getting anything back would be buying an ultrabook, so the serious searching began. I was able to google and YouTube my way through buying a new hard drive, formatting it, installing windows and updating every driver. (Side note: I had called Dell customer service because my warranty was out they would have charged me 200 dollars just to see the issue.) I only mention this because the Dell XPS had caught my attention when it first came out but the price was exceptionally high and Razer had the same specs for hundreds cheaper. At this day and age, choosing between the ultrabook market is very nitpicky. A color, the hinge, the weight, etc. I looked at everything, Macs are far too expensive for what they offer. This same laptop with same internals would cost me almost another grand. The same is said for the Microsoft surface line. I've had the laptop for about a month now. The battery lasts me about eight hours (5+ window pages, Microsoft word, Spotify playing in the background, power point open and some YouTube videos.) The screen is not 4K but it is exceptionally beautiful and for a 13 inch 4K would be a bit excessive and eat away at the battery life. The keyboard may be shallow to some but key spaces are perfect, if you like quiet typing then this is perfect for that. Not much clicking but just enough. The track pad is smooth, not jumpy or staggering. Pinch to zoom in or out. There are not dedicated buttons to click but it does press down on the sides. The touch screen is responsive and really nothing to complain about, just a nice feature to have. The chroma lighting it's definitely a kicker, each key is individually lit and it's honestly the best out there. It looks very clean compared to others I've seen, doesn't hurt your eyes. Though I will say, the max brightness will make you feel like keys are moving. I don't think I see myself ever keeping the keys at max. The speed is amazing, boots up in seconds, loads any application just as quick. The SSD is able to open and save things smoothly as well. To push ultrabook to its limits definitely takes some dedication. Portability is amazing. Sits at 2.93 pounds. It's small, light and smooth. Opening it up only requires one hand and the bottom has two rubber lines for grip and they work fantastic at keeping the laptop in place while also giving room for the fans to have space. Finger print magnet though, anything will attach to the black metal finish. But I am one to put cases on everything and I just bought a matte black skin that just fits in with laptop, unnoticed and provides protection from everyday use. Nicks, scratches, etc. There is also the fact that this made by a company that makes gaming laptops, this stealth is not that. It's meant for productivity and it does that amazingly. There is the option of having an external GPU if gaming is an option you'd like. There is also a gunmetal grey version that provides are more subtle look, though the keyboard will not have chroma and the logo will not light up. This laptop is one of the few that has refreshed to the new 8th gen intel quad core processor which means even more effective and efficient power. The laptop under duress does get warm but nothing that's uncomfortable and the fans have no whirring sounds, as that was an issue before but has been fixed. Ultimately for my needs and wants this laptop was the perfect fit. The black was a refreshing to all the different greys out there. I can change the key color to whatever I want if I want a more professional look and the logo can be turned on or off. Performance is always top tier and if the eight hours seems short, this is USB-C charged, which means you can take a power bank and easily charge this for another added few hours. Which brings me to ports, compared to others this one is decent. USB-C, two thunderbolt 3 ports and HDMI port. Razer's cumtomer service is not the best so to sideline that, I went ahead and bought two years of warranty under Best Buy, that way if anything goes wrong I have peace of mind. (Had too many stressors before.) Razer also has a great line of peripherals that go well with there laptops, I bought a mouse and mouse pad from them. I honestly couldn't be happier, like I said, it's one of the best. If you are in the ultrabook market you know that none of them are going to be cheap, this one is great for everything it offers and sales are always going on. I got 100 dollars off mine. Lastly, this model is different, this is the 13.3 inch, the 12.5 inch is different, don't confuse the two! Hope this helps!

Dead after 2 years.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dead after 2 years. Swollen battery buckled keyboard and everything. I am super careful with my stuff so this was a surprise. Laptop lid won’t even close anymore. Most of its time was spent on a razer laptop stand hooked into an razer core x, output onto my secondary monitor.

Great ultra portable laptop, except for gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great ultra portable laptop for everyday use, unless your daily usage is for real gaming. It of course will play simplistic games, but don't expect to be playing any A level games. Battery life is good. Screen is gorgeous. Build quality is very good. Laptop is nice and light. If you need something high quality and you travel a lot, this laptop should make you very happy.

Great but could improve
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop. I went from a power user (Surface Book with Performance Base) to a bit simpler use, and this fits the bill. The i7 is powerful enough to process anything I need, and the 16 GB of RAM lets me have more than 3 Chrome tabs open! The design is phenomenal, and the lid opens with one finger flawlessly. It is a fingerprint magnet, and doesn’t have Windows Hello, which is why it only gets 4 stars.

Q: QuestionIs this laptop able to run SolidWorks and AutoCad (For University )? When plugged to the core thingi will that improve it performance in running heavier engineering applications?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, it should. When the Razer works it's really powerful. That said, the Razer and core combo have some real issues with working as designed. They're very touchy and you have to restart the computer a ton to get the core to work if you plan on docking and undocking frequently. I've also had multiple Razers fail due to various reasons (boot loop, fans, and critical battery failures). My software company is no longer purchasing Razer products for our devs due to the reliability issues.

Q: QuestionCan you use this for school work and gaming?
Asked by Ben.
- A:Answer This was a purchase for son who attend a university. It is light weight and has long battery life. Some light games can be played but not for heavy duty gaming which would require a laptop designed for that (separate video card with dedicated memory). However, this is an excellent student computer.
