Questions & Answers (49)
Q: Does this irobot work with VAC 220? or it is only compatible with a 120 Volt AC? Thanks (5 answers)
A: The charging base label says it's rated for input 100-240V at 50/60Hz. The power cable supplied is a standard North American polarized 2-blade plug.Q: What are the differences between roomba 980 & 960? (5 answers)
A: The 980 has carpet boost, a longer battery life (75 vs 120 minutes), 2 virtual walls vs 1, newer motor, and 10X the suction vs 5X.Q: We have a step down living room. How would that work? (7 answers)
A: I built a ramp for my roomba and it works great!Q: Will it work on deep shag carpet? My Dyson 360 would NOT it would get stuck immediately. (5 answers)
A: I have three red long shag area rugs and the Roomba does a great job on them. It might have to look for the best place to get up on the area rugs, but I leave it alone and it finds away. I was worried that I would have to get rid of my rugs.- A: The 980 is multiroom. So it will go into every room on the floor. Battery life is longer too. He 980 has carpet boost. So you will hear the auction increase when it senses carpet. If you have a main floor with multiple rooms, get the roomba that has entire floor/multiroom cleaning.
Q: How often does the battery & hepa filter need to be replaced? (10 answers)
A: purchased 3 extra filters, been blowing them out after daily use... then every couple of weeks washing them... letting one dry and use another filter for use.- A: Well, sort of... If cords are ran adjacent to the walls, they will most likely not be an issue. The 980 includes 2 virtual walls, and we are using one of them to block the area past our entertainment center to avoid having to tidy up cords in that area. We do try to keep most other cords off the ground (e.g. when one of us is using a laptop on the couch and it is plugged in while the Roomba is going). After a few days/week of using the Roomba, you should have resolved any issues or obstacles that may be. We find that the Roomba has forced us to be more organized with cords and even laundry (socks on the floor can cause a Roomba wheel to get stuck). It sounds high maintenance, but in reality, 95% of the time the Roomba will negotiate most obstacles around the house. The Roomba doesn't just bump around aimlessly... It uses various sensors (including a camera above it) to make decisions on how to tackle areas. It's really impressive to watch and, at times, it even seems like it's thinking (it will look around a few times and then choose a path...really amusing). We have found that the amount of time we have regained from not having to manually vacuum as often is worth the small effort of clearing the floors up. Think of it as whenever your (or someone else's) toddler is about to enter a room and you make a conscious effort to remove any "not-kid-friendly" objects. This is the sort of exercise you'll go through for the first few days to a week.
- A: Yes, we move ours upstairs and down. It does map your home to clean efficiently, so when you move it takes a little time to re-learn, but not a noticeable difference, so we just move the docking station to whichever floor we want to use it on.
