Functional and Attractive Portable Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like my new portable hard drive, a My Passport 1 TB storage device from Western Digital. 1 TB is a whole lot of storage, and the drive is quite small, and thin as well. I bought the blue model for a great price, and I am glad I did. The read and write speeds are really fast - it's 3.0 USB technology. And even better: my wife likes it.

My Passport-Portable Harddrive Backup 3.0 external
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent portable backup drive. It is small and compact. Was recommended by the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They walked me through how to set it up for automatic backups once a month (recommended). Set date and time, plug it in and let it go. It's recommended not to keep it plugged in all the time. If you are technical it's a no brainer but I needed a bit of help. By the way Geek Squad (the best)! Enjoy their technical assistance.

I LOVE this external hard drive!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I no longer have to worry about losing (or leaving in a classroom USB port) the numerous flash drives that I am now retiring -- thanks to this device. I especially like the color (although purple is my favorite) and the size of the Passport because it is less likely to be forgotten when I leave work or left in a classroom (or my office) USB port.

Fast & Reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a number of WD backup hard drives and this one just may be the best. It backs up continuously, do I don't have to worry about losing anything. Plus, it is so small I can put it in my pocket when not in use.

Great drive for storage and backup solution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drive as a backup solution for all of the laptops in our home. This drive works perfectly for that. After plugging it in directly to our WiFi cable modem router via the USB port, I configured the drive for backups over our wireless network using the router's built-in backup/restore application. This drive is now backing up all of our laptops automatically directly over our home network. This drive includes its own backup/restore application and utilities, but I chose to use the router's backup/restore application instead (my preference, that's all).

Q: QuestionWhy does my hard drive keep flashing/blinking a white light? Is this normal? I think it's a waste of power.
Asked by Jeff.
- A:Answer The white light blinks constantly. Even if the computer is in sleep mode. Why? Don't exactly know but it's probably for fast access. If you're on battery just unplug it.

Q: QuestionWill this work with Dell laptop running windows 10 and below?
Asked by Mikey.
- A:Answer I bought the 1TB WD black unit from Best Buy about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I have a Dell laptop with an AMD8 processor and Windows 10. I can't get it to work. I have been working with WD support Level 2 for the last couple of weeks and they still have not figured out a solution. I am still working with them.
