Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Starred Review. Tullet's brilliant creation proves that books need not lose out to electronic wizardry; his colorful dots perform every bit as engagingly as any on the screen of an iPad. "Ready?" the voiceover-style narration asks on the first page; it shows a yellow dot on a plain white background. "Press here and turn the page," it instructs. When the page is turned, there's a second yellow dot beside the first one. "Great!" it says. "Now press the yellow dot again." A third yellow dot appears beside the first two. "Perfect," the narrator continues. "Rub the dot on the left... gently." On the next page, voila!—that dot is now red. "Well done!" the book congratulates. The fun continues as the dots proliferate, travel around the page, grow and shrink in response to commands to clap, shake, or tilt the book, etc. The joy is in the tacit agreement between artist and reader that what's happening is magic. Shh! Don't tell. All ages. (Apr.)

Great book. Poorly manufactured in China.

Great book. Poorly manufactured in China.
As over 10K reviews have pointed out, this is a wonderful, imaginative book.My only problem is with the quality of the "board" version. The boards of the book were warped when it arrived, before a toddler had even laid a hand on it. Also, the print quality is not great. (See photos.)I realize that it's a $6.50 book, but I'd have paid $9.00 for a better quality US produced copy.

Imagine a book that comes alive with just a simple touch! Press Here by Hervé Tullet is a delightful interactive board book that sparks imagination and wonder in young readers (and adults, too!). My daughter absolutely loved it!

With each page, you're invited to press, shake, tilt, and even blow on the book. The dots on the page seem to have a mind of their own, multiplying, changing direction, and even growing in size. It's like watching a tiny magic show unfold right before your eyes!

This playful book is perfect for bedtime stories or any time you want to share a fun and interactive experience with a child. It's a wonderful way to introduce kids to the concept of cause and effect and encourage their creativity.

If you're looking for a book that's both charming and surprising, Press Here is a must-have!

I purchased Press Here for a friend’s 2 year old son because it is a favorite and often the first book to be read aloud my granddaughter chooses from the shelf. As you read, the child is asked to press the circle which magically moves across the pages, changes colors, and multiples in number. The text is fun and engaging while reinforcing following directions and introducing the abstract concept that our actions will cause things to happen. Wonderful book for readers of all ages, but especially toddlers.

I was intrigued by the idea of this interactive book and bought it out of curiosity. Fortunately, it didn’t disappoint.

There was once a time, back when Nate was a baby, that Jacob got hooked on free interactive stories and we had to ban “stories on the iPad.” If only we’d known about this book…

In a nutshell: This book starts out with a yellow dot which garnered the immediate nickname The Sun Book. It takes you through a series of pages where you press the dot and rub the dot and tap different dots and every time you turn the page, something has happened because of all of your pressing and rubbing and tapping. The boys especially enjoyed the parts where they got to shake the book and blow on the pages. It’s great for the preschool crowd. There was a significant amount of hooping and hollering and laughing as we “played” with this story. The pages seem to withstand the spit shower that inevitably follows trying to “blow away the dark.” Jake took it to bed with him last night and tonight. And this evening he was still trying to figure out the “magic”… asking if the numbers would change if he didn’t follow the directions exactly. The only downside I saw was that it kind of riled them up, rather than riling them down.

As a family you can talk about: How does this book work? How many times can you read it in a row before your mommy will go crazy? If you put yellow dots on your back, can you trick kids into giving you a back massage?

Press Here: A fun little unique bedtime number that’s cheaper than an iPad.

Based on the stellar reviews, I bought this book for my 2-year-old son. I didn't necessarily expect him to enjoy it yet because aside from a few classics, it takes him time to warm up to new books.

He absolutely loved this book from the first time we read it. It is now his go-to book. The interactiveness of the book is fun and creative and engaging.

Overall, amazing book. I highly recommend it.
