About Foreland Lighthouse Keepers' Cottage

Experience the thrill of living on a cliff-edge in this lighthouse cottage. The actual lighthouse is still operating today, minus the loud foghorn however. The cottage is made up of six bedrooms for large groups and has a balcony area for everyone to congregate and watch the birds fly past.

Foreland Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage is based on the Exmoor Heritage Coast. Pick up the South West Coast Path for hikes to Lynmouth and beyond. Or go inland towards Watersmeet for its wooded valley and quaint tea-garden.

Further afield, Woolacombe Beach can be reached within a 40-minute drive. The swells here make it perfect for surfing.

More information

Heating: Air Source heating included.

Parking: There is parking for 4 cars and a sloping path leads to a long flight of 58 granite steps that descend steeply to the cottage.

Garden: There is a walled yard with a picnic table.

*WiFi: This is now available, but please note that intermittent connection problems can sometimes occur and should not be relied upon. We are pleased to provide free WiFi at this cottage which is supported by BT.

Accessibility: Foreland Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage is approached via a long narrow metalled road which descends steeply and with three hairpin bends. The drive is not recommended for nervous drivers. We also strongly recommend that visitors arrive before dark.

BBQ: Barbecues must NOT be used at this cottage at any time.

Offers: Guests will benefit from a late Sunday checkout of 4pm.

Please note: There is a walled yard and plenty of space around the cottage but no garden. It is possible to climb over this wall and be on the open cliff edge. Children must therefore be supervised at all times.

The cliff falls immediately below the cottage to the sea and rises steeply behind the building.
