MASSIVE CAPACITY for dirt cheap cost. Great for your workflow, and your budget.
I'll be ordering another one of these soon, because I know from personal firsthand experience what I'm getting and know this was worth my time and money. My own carelessness tipped mine over a few times or completely knocked off desktops all the way down to hard tiled floor surfaces one time too many, and that's my own fault, not the fault of the device. Rugged yes, it can take a few tip-overs, (Mine Did), but nobody said it's "indestructable". That's what great about the price of this. It's not the end of the world if you ever need replace it. I call buys like this Cost-To-Performance Value = "Strong Value". And remember, as much we all love SSD drives (speed advantage) SSD's are technically not recommended for Re-writing to over and over again - Yes, you can, but up to a finite # of times, and after that ur just rolling the dice.. Seriously, who ACTUALLY wants to keep track of how many times you've saved, then deleted (or otherwise moved), then rewritten data to their hard drive ??? ...eh ?? I know I sure don't !!! " This item is NOT AN SSD drive ...it's a MECHANICAL hard drive... so it's not a formula one sports car... well it's not a snail either.... I like its versatility. Good value and the shipment was high quality. I had a specialist transpose my laptop onto another operating system in order to capture the user account onto my new external hard drive. It work perfectly by just plugging in the USB and with only a couple of clicks it all came back up. I traced one of the software found in my downloads for windows photo gallery which is no longer in service for newer computers. I brought it back up in my new laptop and it facilitated perfectly for approximately 7,200 photo files with all original pixel strength. Now, I can keep unlimited files on an external had drive without loading down my new computer to incredible valued photo files, in addition to memory disks that I will upload at my convenience. A great hard drive!
This drive has lots of space and is accommodating my video and audio file transfers/copies nicely. My computer only has USB 2.0 I/O's but this hard drive streams videos directly without any skips. I decided to change an APC 7-port hub with a cheap 10-port USB hub and had skips all over the place. Purchased a new Anker 14-port USB hub and everything is flawless including the streaming. 4tb for ~100 is a solid deal

Great external drive with lots of storage
I've been a fan of WD almost since I got my first computer. I have slowly been replacing my very old, small (by today's standards) drives with newer ones, and this was my latest purchase. I've only had it a couple of weeks, but it seems perfect so far. I haven't investigated all of the software features yet, but you can set it to backup photo storage from the cloud, do automatic back-up of your computer, etc. It was plug-and-play and although my computer is only USB2, I appreciate that this USB3 drive is backwards-compatible and will be even faster when I eventually upgrade the computer. This is not a tiny drive - will not be mistaken for one of the "portable" ones - but the plastic housing seems solid and it's ventilated, which I appreciate.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
