These were great, but the quality has diminished to unacceptable. I originally bought a pair of these a couple of years ago and loved them. I wore them almost every day for two years, and basically walked through the sole. I decided to buy the same style to replace my previous boots. The new boots arrived and were noticeably less substantial, e.g., the loops used to pull on the boots felt much thinner. Alas, I was proven correct. Within a few weeks, the loop broke. I called Zappos (excellent as always) and they sent me a replacement pair. The loop on these lasted almost a week before breaking, and has now come off altogether. Other parts of the boot are also failing. It's a shame. Born either sent a bad lot to Zappos or their manufacturing has deteriorated. This went from a boot that took everything I gave it for two years, finally needing replacement because I walked through the soles, to a boot that couldn't even make it a week! That's weak. Attempts to contact Born directly have thus far met with silence. Zappos, as always, has been wonderful.

Very comfortable. But crap. They use tape around the boot heal platform and that fell off. Why for the love of all that is good and wonderful do we have to have shoes from a reputable company like Born do something so freaking cheap. I've been wearing for less than 3 weeks.

I purchased these boots about 9 months ago, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Order a full size smaller, and if you have high arches, get some inserts. They had almost 0 break-in time. I wear them everyday for work, they can dress up or dress down easily, and are just comfortable.

These shoes are absolutely wonderful. Everything you expect from the Born brand--comfort, simple design, and top notch workmanship for a reasonable price. The leather upper is extremely supple. There was virtually zero break-in time. They're my favorite shoe to go with jeans and a button up shirt for a casual night out or a date with my wife. I wore a pair of Born shoes (sadly discontinued) through 5 year's of college. I fully expect these Hemlock shoes to last just as long!
