Solid TV, Much Better than the Samsung Q6F
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a 55" Samsung Q6F back in July after my Samsung Plasma TV died, and had multiple issues with that TV. Got this Sony as a replacement after two months of trying to get the Q6F repaired. The picture quality on this TV is much better than the Q6F. I'm not sure if that's due to the differences in the dimming arrays, but I've really enjoyed the quality and the black levels are solid. Android TV is a little sluggish at times, and getting into the actual TV settings shouldn't take so many button presses...but once you get used to the system, having access to the Play Store and all the apps is great. I also suggest looking up some tips/tricks guides for Android TV; getting rid of most of the "suggested content" has made the menus considerably cleaner. I primarily use this TV with a PS4 Pro. The HDR handoffs are much cleaner than the Q6F. The Q6F had a ton of problems with "game mode" turning on and off at random. The only way you can tell the Sony is switching between game mode and/or HDR is the screen will go black for a second or two. Spider-Man and Destiny 2 look great on this TV. The remote isn't as nice/simple as the Q6F, but using HDMI ARC with a Sony soundbar means I only need to use the TV remote for everything, which is a plus. Overall, I'm very happy with this TV. I've never had issues with Sony products, and this TV has made me interested in their future OLED TV products.

Excellent TV despite several QC issues.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are sensitive to dead pixels and debris underneath the screen, this TV will drive you nuts. My purchase experience was horrible and I'm happy to finally have a perfect TV. I am commenting on the 55 inch X900F. Luckily a Sony rep happened to be at the Best Buy I visited, after already returning two of these TVs. My first TV was totally unacceptable. There were several eye lash sized dust specks under the screen and a couple of dead sub-pixels. The 2nd TV had several dust specks underneath the screen and a dead pixel. I took photos to document the issues, they are hard to see but I wanted to attach them regardless. While at the store the Sony rep and one of the store managers were both very, very cool. They agreed that these defects were unacceptable and were concerned about defective batches being sent. We opened additional TVs until we got a pixel perfect one. We opened three and the first one had a bright white stuck pixel, and dust specks. The 2nd one had a dead pixel and a dust speck. The 3rd TV was absolutely perfect and a keeper. I give a lot of credit to the local Best Buy staff and to the Sony rep who was present. They all went above and beyond to make sure I got a perfect screen, which they did not have to do. After all of that, I got it home and installed and calibrated to my liking. Wow. There was a recent software update that enables the TV to support Dolby Vision. Watching 4K HDR content that utilizes DV is unbelievable. HDR content is beautiful and really pops. Motion processing is fantastic and this is why I stick with Sony TVs over other brands. This TV also is not edge lit, it uses full array local dimming, although not as good as the top of the line Z series, it is pretty great. Much better than any edge lit TV I've used. Screen uniformity is pretty much perfect on mine. I do not have any "dirty screen effect" when there is fast panning / watching hockey or other sports. Android TV interface is great and very convenient. I have an Android phone and it syncs with the TV during initial set up, and it is a breeze. I highly recommend this TV if you are able to find one without pixel defects.

Outstanding Performance at a reasonable price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony X900F has proven to be an OUTSTANDING television unit. Easy to install, learn and master - image quality and performance beyond our expectations, and the matching sound bar and subwoofer bring the entire experience together. That combined with expert advise and support from BEST BUY, made this a great experience. That - and saving $150/mo. by disconnecting the CABLE TV has been a real blessing!

Amazing Tv but one big flaw!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was undecided on which tv to buy between the Sony 900f, the Samsung q8fn and the LG B8 OLED. I decided on the Sony for price as it was 600 dollars cheaper but also for the Motion and no burn in risk. At first I was highly disappointed. No matter what settings I tried it looked horrible until the used ratings.com’s settings and turned on enhanced input in the settings menu. Now after some fine tuning it is an amazing picture! Motion is amazing. Movies, Sports, and Netflix through my Xbox one s looks amazing, but gaming is hit or miss as the hdr can sometimes mess with the image and makes it too dark. (Im sure it’s a setting I have not figured out yet). As for the main flaw, the BLOOMING!!! This tv can have an awful blooming effect I’ve only really noticed it on scenes where it’s a black background and white lettering you get about a bad 6 inch white halo around the text. Now on my unit the blooming isn’t terrible around subtitles on dark screens as usually the background colors hide this defect, but it is there, usually on screens where it doesn’t matter like the picture I attached. I added bias lighting and it has helped but it’s still present. As for the colors it’s not as rich as the q8fn or an OLED, but this tv is no slouch. It still does color really well and blacks are great on this tv too. For the price this tv has a lot of features and does an incredible job with sports and movies. If you don’t mind the blooming it’s worth every penny and packs a serious punch. If it didn’t have the blooming issue it would be a 5 star tv

Amazing Picture
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv’s picture is so amazing you actually get the impression you’re in the middle of all the action. Super clear clarity. The speakers are so so. I actually use a sound bar for better sound. I am very happy with my purchase. The saying you get what you pay for definitely applies. There are plenty of HDMI inputs. The tv is all that!!!!!

Failed after 1.5 years, poor viewing angle
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After less than 2 years it started showing some black vertical lines in the screen that stays there, and the product only has 1.5 years warranty from manufacturer (thank you Sony.... but is not very good to cover your customer for only 1.5 years in this kind of product)ñ before that the picture was very good. The OS is not very friendly but you can go thru it, the most annoying thing (beyond the product quality fail that it has now) is the poor viewing angle; you get a great picture and colors but you must be right in front of the TV in order to get it, any angle (even very small ones) will give you an average picture (that is not better than my led tv from 5 years ago, no 4k neither full array).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Q: QuestionHow far apart are the legs from its widest point? I want to see if it will fit my TV stand.
Asked by Oxnn.
- A:Answer this is an important question that best buy should always inform buyers of on every tv, because they always display mounted on the wall. i too had this problem without noticing it. all previous tv's had been single pedestal that fit on my stand. i solved this by simply buying a black 4 foot pre-made shelf at lowe's and placed it on the stand and under the tv. it works fine for me and is quite stable. the legs sit at an angle just under 40 inches at the front to 26 inches at the back. by the way, you will love this tv.

Q: QuestionWill the 900f require a lot of settings adjustments (out of the box) to achieve a satisfactory picture? Definitely don't want to make TV viewing complicated with needed settings for daytime, nighttime, movies or broadcast TV etc.
Asked by Digeeedad.
- A:Answer This is very subjective to your liking. Out of the box the tv is nice and you’l notice most movies pop you can simply turn on HDR10 for anything on the screen, or you can go into setting and make minor adjustments. I personally followed these instructions and made my own adjustments thereafter to my liking. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900f/settings But for the best vibrant settings start off with HDR10 enabled and go from there. You’ll notice the colors are saturated but once fixed it’s an amazing tv. I almost went for an OLED but the burn image really held me back. I’m glad I purchased this tv instead. By the way, if you want to use 4K devices make sure you’re using HDMI input 2/3. If you are using a sound bar, use HDMI input 3 (ARC) for the soundbar. And don’t forget to go to the “home” menu and enable 4K on the input (will only work with 2/3 for full 4K and will only get 2k from other inputs. Some of these things aren’t mentioned in the website so just wanted to clarify.

Q: QuestionHi, Are these new tvs instore to view yet? If not when can I see one instore? Thanks, DS
Asked by Diggersteve.
- A:Answer I asked in my local BB and was told Sony are holding back the X900F so they can get rid of X900E stock. There are no tvs on display in any BB store as far as I know.

Q: QuestionHOW DOES THE 55 900F COMPARE TO 55 930E BUT, ARE THE SAME PRICE ?
Asked by cerra73.
- A:Answer As a newer model, Sony X900F comes with some improvement in design and technology than the predecessor X900E. In term of design, the striking difference is on their stand where the stand of X900F is much wider than X900E. In term of technologies, the striking improvement is on their picture engine where X900F now is powered by 4K HDR X1 Extreme Engine while X900E is powered by X900E. Additionally, X900F now is powered by X-tended Dynamic Range Pro 6X while X900E X-tended Dynamic Range Pro 5X. The other improvement brought by X900F, now with an upcoming firmware update, it can be updated to support Dolby Vision. Meanwhile, in term of performance and picture quality, X900F may offer a bit brighter peak brightness and a bit better performance of other features, but the improvement is not too significant. So, which is a better choice between them? Actually, X900E has been discontinued by the manufacturer, but some merchants still sold it, so you still can buy it and of course its price has dropped. On other hand, Sony X900F is recently launched that course make its price is still high, so it is not surprising if with the same screen, X900F is priced hundreds dollar more expensive than X900E. Now the decision comes back to you according to your preferences. If you don’t mind to spend hundreds more dollar of your money, X900F might be a better choice for you. In addition it is a newer model, it also offers a bit better picture quality and some additional features than X900E. But even so, if you want cheaper TV, Sony X900E also not a bad choice since its performance is not far behind X900F.

Q: QuestionWhat's the best HDMI cable to buy for the Sony 900f tv.
Asked by Slim74.
- A:Answer As long as the HDMI cable is 2.0 with 18GIgs of bandwidth, the brand doesn't really matter. This TV takes full advantage of HDMI cables with 18gigs bandwidth and those are the cables required for HDR and full 4:4:4 chroma.
Answered by Rivera
Q: QuestionWhat is the input response in game mode?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The input lag in game mode has been reported to be 41ms for 1080p gaming, and 25ms for 4K gaming. Very similar figures to last years models that also uses the same X1 Extreme processor.

Q: QuestionAm I correct in assuming this will be an ips panel considering it's boasting a wide viewing angle?
Asked by Noah.
- A:Answer Sony has not confirmed anything in this regard at conventions, however based on speculation and last years models, the 900f and higher models will have a VA panel. The 850f and below may use IPS, as they have done in their 2017 Models.

Q: QuestionTrying to determine whether my current corner TV stand is deep enough. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of the TV stand legs are (the part that makes contact with the TV stand), front to back. thanks.
Asked by JSK68.
- A:Answer These are 13" from front to back. They're mounted at an angle approximately 24.5" apart. The base would have a width of about 39" in front of the TV and 26" at the rear.
