Really great pizza yumminess.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We're pizza lovers and were really excited to see that we could cook a pizza on our stove top at a pizza appropriate temperature! The instruction booklet is very well put together and the only hiccup I had in the short time that it took to assemble the oven was when I didn't realize that the back pizza stone wouldn't stay in place until I added the two side stones. Once I realized that (and anyone with better spacial recognition would realize that), assembly was a snap. We turned the burner on and the oven heated up quite quickly. I cooked my pizza for 4 minutes, turning my pizza by quarter turns (roughly) and crust was exactly what I was hoping for, slightly crispy in places, slightly chewy in places. It was very easy. My singular issue with the pizza oven was that we don't have a flat grate on our stove top, which means that we need to perch the oven over the flames (see my 2 photos). Even being careful, I was worried that I might slide the oven off of the raised grate if I pushed too hard with the peel (I didn't). That worry is the only reason that I'm giving it a 4 star review and not a 5 star. If I had a flat grate stove (and I will get one soon), I would absolutely give this 5 stars. Even now, I would recommend this to a friend.

Makes great pizza!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We tried out the BakerStone gas stove pizza oven yesterday for the first time. Assembly was straightforward and simple, although the screws to attach the pizza turner handle to the spatula part were not included, but finding replacement screws in my garage was easy. We used the pizza oven on our outdoor grill. It took awhile to heat up, but we found that closing the lid on our grill over the pizza oven as far as we could helped speed up the heating process. We also closed the lid when cooking the pizzas to keep the heat as high as possible. The pizzas are limited to about 12 inches in size since that is the width of the pizza oven, but that was fine. We ended up making 6 pizzas with various ingredients and each of them were fully cooked within about 5 minutes. The crust was perfectly cooked every time, crispy on the bottom and sides. The oven gets very hot so its important to keep an eye on the pizzas and turn them 180 degrees when they are about halfway cooked. The included pizza turner was perfect for that purpose, and the included peel was great for getting the pizzas in and out of the oven. Overall, great product and I look forward to making many pizzas outdoors, especially during football season :)

Decent
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good little (big) product. Assembly: You have to put it together. It is not really a difficult or long process. The only snag I hit is that when adding the bottom piece. The picture doesn't show you that the cleaning slot opening should be on the opposite side of where you insert the pizza. I put mine on backwards and then had to unscrew and turn around. This didn't take long, but I was displeased nonetheless. The pizza turner assembly (it is just 2 pieces) requires a screwdriver (not included). Making Pizza: I used ready made pizza crust and then made pizza totally different than what I usually eat. Also, I have never made my own pizza before. I buy frozen pizza's and pop them in the oven. I put the pizza oven on my stovetop and put the burner on high like it said. I left it for 20 min like it said and the "temperature guage" was on fire. I put my pizza together while it was warming. I put it together on the wooden peel. I did not flour it because I used ready made crust. I had a hard time getting that big crusted pizza into the oven. I had to really work it. The sides were bent onto the side of the pizza oven box. I was able to eventually push it way back; this also took a lot of work. I need a smaller crust/pizza moving forward. After 1 min, I used the pizza turner to start turning the pizza. I did not have problems with the turning. I probably turned it 3 or 4 times in 1 minute intervals. I was not sure if my mozzarella was supposed to look more melted. Either way, my pizza came out well. Clean up: I have not yet cleaned up because it says to wait 90 min for it to cool. Either way, after I removed the pizza, I left it on high for 15 min, as this is supposed to burn up little crumbs. I didn't notice anything different. I am literally still waiting for 90 minutes to be up so that I can "clean" the pizza oven. The pizza came out good. I don't know if it is truly different that the regular oven. One HUGE con is that the pizza moves around when I do anything in it (putting pizza inside, turning pizza, taking pizza out). So I had to use my oven mitt. It is big for a small apt. I don't know where I am going to store it. I will use it again.

Great Crowd Pleaser
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pieces were well packaged upon opening the box. The initial setup took a little longer than expected, only because of second-guessing myself. Some of the images in the instructions weren’t clear, but after assembling the pizza oven I realized it wasn’t that complicated. All in all, I’d say it was about a 15-20 minute process due over analyzing. Pros: Cooks a fast pizza in about 4-5 minutes Delicious stone pizza Stone pieces more durable than expected Works simply by placing over a gas range Cons: Gives off a quite a bit of heat Will take some getting use to Clean up process It’s big, so finding storage might be tough Thoughts: We purchased already made dough from the grocery store and the ingredients used were: mushrooms, olives and pepperoni. In total, we spent about $15 and got two generous size pizzas and leftovers. We made two delicious pizzas in about 8-10 total minutes. One of the pizzas was thicker, so I cooked it an extra 10 seconds on each rotation. There is a slight learning curve, but you quickly realize what will and won’t work. I found that adding a small amount of flour to the pizza peel and inside will keep the pizza from sticking. This made rotating the pizza a lot easier as the dough didn’t stick. Please know that it gives off a lot of heat, so make sure the fan is on and have good ventilation. Final Take: I’m definitely pleased with the outcome of the pizza. This is surely a crowd pleaser and I know guests will be just as impressed with the speed and quality it delivers.

Kitchen sized pizza oven
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently came across this pizza oven and Best Buy and decided to try it out. It isn't something I normally pick up do to me not being so great at cooking. But this is pretty straight forward. As usual I will list my review format with the pros, cons and my thoughts. Pros: - Simple to use - Includes everything you need (except for the pizza & pizza cutter) - The design is pretty simple and genius Cons: - Takes a long time to cool off - Not so easy to clean - Only works with gas range stoves My first impressions when I opened the box is that I thought it was pre assembled but that wasn't the case. Please note that there is some assembly required. It may look like it is a lot to put together but it is simple and almost like putting together a puzzle. The instructions are easy to follow. I was concerned while putting the pizza oven together you can see cotton inside of the oven in certain parts. I was nervous when I saw that because cotton and flames do not mix but for it was designed this way for a reason although I don't know why, Assembly took a total of 6 minutes because I was examining everything and looking at the manual. The inside plates appear to be ceramic with a special coating. I am no chef or cooking expert but I had purchased a frozen pizza I let it thaw and threw it in the oven and it cooked in approximately 5 mins. It really is simple to use as long as you follow the included instructions. I followed the instructions and used too much flour. Two table spoons is too much use just one and that should be enough to evenly coat the pizza tray. Word of advice for parents who have children please keep this on the rear burner(s) of the stove where it won't move while using the oven during normal operation. It is best used on the back burners it moves easily if you use it on the front burner. Overall this pizza over is pretty neat and won't burn a hole in your pocket either. I was able to heat a pizza myself without burning down my apartment and my pizza was great despite not being good in the kitchen. If you are looking to get something like this then by all means check it out.

A+ Build Quality, Excellent Results, Amazing Taste
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please read through the directions. The oven is simple enough to put together, but I could see where it might be confusing if you were to simply jump into it thinking, "I've got this!" All items are provided except the screwdriver which tightens the 4 screws holding the top/bottom portions together. Inside this top/bottom are the 4 stones which slide together to make the oven. Very simple design, minimal pieces/parts, yet has a very robust feeling to it. Extremely sturdy and well made for how "simple" it is. Also of note; be sure to treat the stones with a small amount of vegetable oil. A dab on a paper towel, wipe it around, and you're all set. I'd recommend placing the BakeStone on whatever cooking device you plan on using and allowing it to heat up prior to making your pizza(s). However, I wouldn't recommend frozen pizza. If you do plan on doing this, allow it (the frozen pizza) to warm up/thaw as the huge change in temperature between the frozen pizza and the hot plates will most certainly increase the odds of a stone eventually cracking. Once up to the 500* range (the third of three areas in the gauge on top of the unit) use the included Pizza Peel (cutting board) to slide your pie in. Be sure to turn it every 45-60 seconds with the included turner. This keeps it from sticking to the base stone as well as providing consistent heat to all 360* of the crust. Once you do one or two you'll get a feel for when your crust is ready without having to pull it all the way out and physically touch it with your fingers. Another element of this whole process that makes it very fun/rewarding. With all that out of the way; excellent results on our first two pizzas. We had just used up our last cauliflower crusts prior to the BakeStone arriving and our local store was out of them, so we went with an organic cornmeal this time around. If your kids are having friends over, it's a great way for them to get involved in the process and then watch as your pie bakes. Heck, you can even hand over the turner and let them handle those duties if you feel they're up to it! Having guests over that appreciate conversation while prepping some food for game/movie night? The BakeStone is an excellent thing to have around for just such occasions.

Baking with that original stone oven taste
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Starting with the assembling: Not so complicated! The stone plates felt fragile and easy to brake. I was extra careful assembling them avoiding chipping or cracking edges. Assembled, the BakerStone is not that big. Good to be seated on one burner only (I thought it might need more than one). The kit coming with it is very robust and helpful indeed. The pizza baked in it does really taste different. When using it, I'd recommend you set the fire at the lowest set and keep it like that until the temperature gauge stop going up and then adjust the desired temperature. Give it at least 15 min between adjustments as it takes long time to reach temperature and longer time to drop down. Even though the heat in seems to be distributed equally, it is a good practice to keep rotating your pizza inside. Avoid pushing it too deep. When coming to cleaning, I don't believe it is an easy task (view the nature of the stone). I'd recommend using a baking paper under the pizza pad. That would make it easier to use and almost no need to clean after (especially when you like everything to be clean). Even after turning the burner down, the oven still have enough heat to at least bake one more pizza. What I like about it: - Nice and sturdy build - Good tools and materials - Bake good and even with that special stone bake taste - Can be used over the gas range. Not requiring special setup Not much liked about it: - Size. I want to bake bigger pizza! - Not well shielded from outside. Can't be touch when hot - Price. Would be acceptable for bigger size oven Conclusion: If you eat not just for eating but you like to savor what you are eating! and if you like pizza. Go for it! Another notice, it can be used to bake different stuff. Not only pizza.
