I love candy stores. I really am like a kid in a candy store whilst in a candy store. There is something so wonderful about a sweet shop with its different smells and colorful atmosphere. James's Candy Company is probably one of the better things that comes out of AC.


Salt Water Taffy is an artform and there are a lot of posers out there that say their little colorful candies wrapped in wax paper are taffy but they are clearly not. James' and Fralinger's taffy are not posers, the real deal is right here! James' Candy Company offers perfect saltwater taffy in so many different flavours from fruit variety to chocolate variations. The taste of this taffy is on key, it is not the sugary as hell taffy you find in cheaper stores or at the grocery.

You can pick and choose what flavors you like or you can purchase gift boxes filled with Salt Water Taffy to take home or give as gifts. This candy store also sells novelty candy as well as other gift items too. So if taffy is not your thing, there are other yummy goodies in this old fashioned store.


Remember, if anyone wants to send me some taffy from James'.... go for it! ;)

placed four Valentine Day Orders for Chocolate Candy totaling about $200. Three of the orders had $15.99 for Taffy added on without my permission-I am not a fan of salt water taffy!!. I placed a call to the order center who said they would send an email to correct this situation-No response. I left three emails-no response. I tried leaving a voice mail on their 6093441519 customer service-which does not take phone messages. I left a message for their administrative staff-no response. I have been a loyal customer for more than 20 years of Bayard Chocolates who were taken over by James. Guess this looks like the last order-tomorrow I will call the credit card company and dispute all charges.

Good chocolate, it was awkward to be in the store while an employee was watching something on their phone. 8'of us in the store and didn't get off the phone until it was time to checkout (see photo)

Melt in your mouth salt water taffy. Pick your own instead of getting the prepackaged box - you can tell the difference in freshness. The store has a good variety of other candy, but I always make the stop solely for taffy.
I would give this review five stars, but the customer service was awful. Maybe hire people that actually care about their customers.

Really great assortment and priced accordingly if you are a fan of the salt water taffy confections. There are so many different kinds of this stuff that if you don't watch yourself you will be sending your dentists kids to college. I passed by this store while on a recent visit to Atlantic City and since it was still a nice day temperature wise I wandered down the Boardwalk with the family and stopped in here to snag some gifts with them for friends back where they live now.

The staff seemed friendly enough and the store was clean and neatly organized making it easier to select whatever it was you needed. They even had a tray with some samples to take away with you. There is a little bit of a price for these confections but this is the real deal authentic NJ salt water taffy so you get what you pay for. They had some other items like fudge and macaroons but this mission was for taffy only. In the event that you cannot get there in person they have a very nice website to peruse and serve your needs.

My husband couldn't leave the Jersey shore without some saltwater taffy. James' version is really good- bite size, soft and well-flavored. I can't pass up a fudge opportunity. The lovely older lady at the counter told me "I'll give you the short, fat one. It looks the best." To which my husband said, "That's what she said." LMAO.

My favorite part of AC. Must come and try the peanut butter and jelly taffy! !

I ordered salt water taffy for my mom's 90th birthday. The box arrived within days and my mom said the taffy is delicious. Thank you x a million for such great service and quality candy

I grew up on this stuff, but over the decades, something changed. The flavors are so...minor and bland. The peppermint still has zing, but the licorice is tasteless. I recently tried the "Filled Center" Taffy. UGH! The illustration on the box cover and on the website shows taffy cut open and oozing with centers. But the centers are non-existent. I saw teeny "ribbons" on each the ends of each piece, but that taffy tasted weird. Nothing juicy. False advertising! There were two stick-on gold stars on the box; hmmm, wonder if that is a quality control warning? Tasted like these pieces were old. A waste of money.

As with their counterpart, Fralingers's, this is a great spot for salt water taffy. There are a few locations on the boardwalk and all are terrific spots to pick up taffy of all flavors, macaroons, and candies.

You can choose from all kinds of flavors here by the pound and also in gift boxes. Their flavors are terrific - from fruits to classics like peppermint creams. Sugar free flavors too. Every time I am down here I buy a few boxes as gifts, to bring to my office, or for personal consumption. Cut to fit the mouth for easy eating!

There are all types of gift boxes of different sizes, and gift baskets too. You can also order online which is a far cry from when they started in the 1880's.
