I have been using these mugs for a couple of weeks now (I ordered the two pack). While they are good looking and keep your drinks warm, the design leaves you dissatisfied with a couple of things. Following are a few pros and considerations if you are looking to get them:
Pros:
1. It's neatly designed. The colors are as in the pictures. The light at the bottom can be customized and looks pretty cool
2. It does the job of keeping the drink warm. The max temperature that you can keep it warm is 145 degree Fahrenheit, which is good enough for most hot drinks
3. The app is neat and intuitive. You can easily customize the temperature. There are a couple of presets for tea but I haven't used them. The app also allows you to sync the caffeine intake with your health app and monitor your caffeine usage
Cons:
1. The cup can be charged, only when the base is completely dry. In this world of wireless charging and waterproof devices, forcing you to dry a device (which is supposed to hold hot liquids) before charging, looks like the product managers didn't do a good enough job
2. The charge is only good enough for 1 drink. So after every drink you need to charge the cups, which is sort of annoying
3. The volume of the cup is small compared to the size. It does hold the 10 ounces that it claims, but the size is much bigger. Roughly the base of the mug is at the bottom of the lower handle

I like hot drinks like coffee and tea. I find myself wasting my caffeine enriched liquid because I get lost in my computer screen and then the drink is ruined. I have recently seen more studies discussing how coffee is good for you but for me, it can’t get cold. I am just not a fan of iced coffee or room temperature coffee. I recently got my hands on the Ember Coffee Mug, a temperature controlled mug and my hope with it is that I can enjoy hot drinks longer at a temperature I set. So does Ember hold true to its claims? First, let me discuss what Ember is and how it works.
The Ember Ceramic Mug is packaged inside a box that is very similar to what Apple uses for its products. There are a few graphics on it along with some text. When opening it up, you will find a few paper information cards, the mug. It’s charging plate. and charging power cable.
My first experience was not so hot no pun intended. I pulled it out and started the charging process I set up my account with Ember and noticed a firmware update was available. I wasn’t able to update the firmware because my Ember Mug kept disconnecting. I thought I had a defective mug but after I powered it off and back on a few times I was able to get the firmware to update.
After that point, the Ember mug has been a joy to use. I do still, however, have random disconnects so that is something to note. I’ve used it with my evening cup of coffee or tea and my drink has held its temperature. I tested this out with the use of an infrared thermometer. The first drink I had was coffee. It was 130º when I started drinking it and when I was about 3/4 of the way done, the coffee was still registering 121º. The hot tea was a different story. It started out at 155º and ended up at 134º after about 45 minutes. It makes me wonder how correct the Ember is at showing the temp.
Even with my issues getting the firmware to update I had pretty good luck with the mug once that finally installed. I did still have a few instances of the Bluetooth connection getting interrupted, but that didn’t seem to affect the beverage’s temperature. I honestly don’t know what I’ve done without the Ember Ceramic Mug until now. With the Ember I can now take my time sipping my drink and am not limited to how fast my mug cools off. It’s made hot beverages enjoyable again for me and I’m looking forward to trying more of Ember’s products and might even get a second Ceramic Mug.

My parents are heavy coffee and tea drinkers. They constantly put their mugs in the microwave to reheat. After seeing the Ember mugs on several gift lists I decided to purchase a set for them. The reviews are in - work exactly like they are supposed to! My father says they are the definition of "luxury". A big hit!

It was nice at first but it’s been chipping for a while now. The ember company warranty only is for 30 days and you would have to have purchased the cup from their website. The chipping is pretty bad for such an expensive cup.

I’ve read the reviews and I’ve seen how easily the mugs chip, so I’m treating this like it’s the most delicate piece of china. Stirring with a plastic baby spoon...
The cup took a minute to pair via Bluetooth. I had to reset my phone for it to pop up on my list. Just follow the directions and troubleshoot and you’ll get there.
Don’t pour lukewarm coffee in and expect the Ember to heat it up. This cup maintains temperature but the battery will die pretty quickly if it’s heating a cup up from 120 degrees. I’ve found 135-139 degrees to be a nice range for my coffee.
It’s a wonderful luxury if you keep your expectations in check. You’ll need to recharge regularly or just keep the coaster handy to set it down on. It’s perfect for when you’re working at a desk.

Used to hate when my coffee would cool down after just sipping down half a cup , was looking for something like this to solve my problem. This works great better than I Thought it would ,I had my doubts after reading some bad reviews And so pricey but I got this on a deal of the day so I took a chance . Initially had trouble setting up to phone app .I consider my self tech savvy have lots of smart things within the home I set up ,so I would assume it wasn’t operator error .had trouble with Bluetooth connection the app would not find the mug but my iPhone X would list it on my Bluetooth list . After a couple tries and Hard resets more like 7/8 tries it finally connects Other than that it was a very simple set up . So far works great app lets you chose a temp i usually set it to exact temp the coffee is when poured in the cup and it maintains that temp right down to last sip . The battery life is ok Not the best I say it would get you thru two cups of coffee or tea on a single charge , good thing the base charger will let you charge as you use it if it happens to loose 100% charge .The mug seems very well constructed just like a normal coffee mug . The bottom Of mug on/off/ charge portion of the mug seems tightly sealed no risk of water damage . Instructions say never submerged in water or dishwasher or microwave it and dry well before placing on charger , I assume if you follow those directions it will last you a long time . Overall I’m satisfied with this mug only regret I should of went with the bigger mug .

I enjoy using these mugs. I use them every day for my morning and/or afternoon tea. I like have the package of 2 as it allows me to keep a charger at my desk and one in the kitchen. Because of that, I haven't had any issues with battery life but I have drained the battery and I do wish it lasted a little longer. I do also wish the mug was a little larger. It claims to be 10 ounces, but you're really not going to get more than about 8 ounces in it. The mug keeps its temperature well. I could use maybe another 5 degrees of warmth, but it's fine. Liquids are usually warmer as you get closer to the bottom of the mug, but I suppose stirring would help address that. I just don't keep a spoon at my desk. Overall, I think the mugs are expensive and I bought them on sale so that helped - but if you drink coffee or tea daily, the time you get back in being able to enjoy it for a longer period of time without it getting cold might be worth it to you.
Also, initial Bluetooth pairing and firmware updates can be a serious pain and may take multiple attempts, but once complete, the connections have been stable.

A:They are two separate boxes, just wrapped together. You can give them as separate gifts, but if they return one, that may be an issue since the 2pk has a separate UPC code.
A:Thanks for reaching out. The Ember - 10-oz. Temperature Controlled Mug 2 (2-Pack) - Black/White is the 1st Generation (old ones). They will come with 2 charging coasters and power adaptors to match each Ember Mug!
