Easy to use and install right out of the box. The installation was great. I love the quality of KitchenAid products. It was on sale, so it was a great price for the quality.  Yes, she should've gotten to do over I didn't like that it turned orange with shredding, the carrots. I had to soak it in bleach to get the orange out. But I would purchase it again.

Great quality

I bought this to replace the older model that had developed a crack in the housing.  This new attachment is well designed and easy to use.  I especially like the barrel design that protect fingers, and the storage box that clears cabinets of loose pieces.  
Just wish the fine grater was included instead of being a separate purchase.  Guess I'll keep the old one for grating parm. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment works perfectly on my older KitchenAid model. It attaches easily and is very secure. I absolutely love how fast it shreds cheese. I was able to shred an entire large block of cheddar cheese in 3 minutes. This helps me tremendously for my meal prepping while also saving my hands from getting tired. I will never go back to shredding cheese the old fashioned way by hand. The attachment is really easy to disassemble and clean and is dishwasher safe. I would highly recommend this accessory to anyone who does alot of bulk meal prepping or has a large family to prepare meals for. It will save you time and energy. It's a must have add on if you have a KitchenAid mixer! 

A Must Have Accessory!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kitchen Aid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment is a versatile tool for Kitchen Aid Stand Mixers. It is easy and quick to assemble and mostly intuitive to use. It can make quick work of shredding a variety of vegetables. It is not quiet strong enough to handle frozen cheese, but will handle firmer vegetables such as carrots. There can be a lot of food that gets built up between the shredder and the attachment holder so if you are working through a lot you may need to stop and clean that out. It is easy to clean and a real time saver!

Easy to use and versatile!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] it is faster than by hand BUT seems to get easily clogged, see the picture from when i shredded cheese. Your product gets stuck the sides so you have to stop and periodically remove your product. It was the same when i shredded potatoes, only worse it was a long piece, 3-4" depending how long your potato is, that wraps around the blade so no shredding happening until you clean it out.

This is my second one.  The first one, I accidentally dropped and the feed snapped off. 
The second one, I accidentally dropped 8 inches into the sink, and the feed snapped off.  Poor design. I guess I'm back to grating cheese by hand. Extremely disappointed.

I received this for Mother's Day and used it once and it came a part making it completely useless. Usually it's a “you get what you pay for it” kinda deal but definitely not with this!!! Kitchen Aid is way too expensive to have it broken the first time you use it!!!!

Broke first use

the first time I used the product on cranberries the slicing blade was all bent when finished, rendering it useless. Cranberries do not have seeds or pits. If it wasn't the cranberries then it was the plastic thing included to use to push the food down. Either way, unacceptable.

It seems that the weakest point on the slicer shredder attachment is the clear feeder tube.  Other people have reported it breaking after little use.  Mine broke after an estimated 30 hours of use over a 6 month period.  The tube cannot be replaced so the attachment is now useless.

I've had my mixer for over 26 years and absolutely love it. I had to replace the old shredder/slicer and was disappointed that it was redesigned. As mentioned in several other reviews, shredding cheese is terrible. It gets stuck and has to be cut so much smaller. 
Yesterday I was grating cheese and the plastic barrel broke off. I'm so frustrated. I used to use to use the original all the time. It was much easier to use and clean. 
I'm afraid to glue it back together because I'm not sure about food safety.

Bring back the old shredder
