Amy Ray exudes cool! The band handled the absence of 2 members so well. The talent was off the charts. I couldn't believe the show that I was watching. I knew that it would be good (Amy is always a pleasure to watch), but it was amazing!
Amy Ray Band was fantastic! Loved the venue as well! Not a bad seat in the house.

To me, Amy Ray has it all as a musician. Her voice “takes me there.” God has gifted her and she has certainly developed her gift to bless others ❤️ Beyond her talent, she is of solid character. She values hard work and it’s always impressive to me her consistent demonstration of humility. She is a strong leader because she puts others before herself. Her qualities and character shine through as she performs. Her passion and spirit radiate through her music. I am so thankful and grateful to God for musicians such as Amy Ray that, through their gifts, can ignite the soul in others through music. And that’s just what happened in Knoxville 7/30/19! The venue at the Bijou is absolutely beautiful and truly blends with both Amy Ray and Shawn Mullins! As Amy so humbly said at the show, “it’s not me, it’s the band!” Referring to a comment from the crowd- The band is fantastic and watching the nonverbal communication between them on stage is fascinating and reassuring this is a tight group of musicians with respect in community with one another. Each with their own solid character bringing to the stage an amazing blend of musicians- I can’t wait to see them again 🎶❤️.
The Knoxville Bijou Theatre is always a wonderful audio experience. This meshed well with the always amazing Amy Ray!
Chely Wright is pure talent! It was a small venue and the acoustics were excellent.
I was not familiar with the new album prior to the show, though Amy Ray had talked about it being in the works for some time. I loved it! It was a bluegrassy folksy country sound. It was country with Amy Ray's touch, along with a slide guitar and a mean fiddle. When she mixed in her mandolin, the result was simply magical.
The mark of an excellent musician is an ability to exceed expectations across genres, and Amy does that with every style of music she ventures into. The latest focus is a country bent,and Amy with her terrific cast of qualifed and credentialed bandmates performed a beautiful set off her latest album/CD, Goodnight Tender. And could there be a nicer, more polite musician who thanks her audience for their support? All I could think of while she was playing was that Amy strives for excellence in every genre she tackles, and I am inspired to do my best in everything i do, because she is not afraid to branch out and reveal her true musical talent in numerous types of music. It was fantastic.
Amy Ray never disappoints, whether she is playing solo or with fellow Indigo Girl Emily Sailers. She was accompanied by an INCREDIBLE band of musicians and instruments, and the evenings was just incredible! The acoustics at Variety Playhouse provided the perfect setting, and it was a night to forever remember...
