This product uses regular or flavored sugar.

I actually had to look this up on a youtube video.  The heating element needs to be placed with the correct pegs in the correct holes.  One peg is slightly larger than the other peg.  So you basically have a 50/50 chance.  I got it wrong every time until I figured out what was going on.  Hope this helps!

It came with a packet of flavored sugar and lite up wand. We plugged it in waited for the light to turn green when it heated up and put a tsp of sugar in it and it was quick and easy. Very fast cotton candy. So amazing my granddaughter wanted to keep making it. It came with the blue sugar and it tasted amazing. We used both flavored and regular sugar. Whats nice is you are able to use both. It comes with regular paper cotton candy holders too so we made a few. Easy clean up after each use. I never knew you could make cotton candy this easy my nine year old granddaughter can do this all by herself. Not messy at all.I will buy some more of the flavored sugar it says you can buy more flavors.

Love the wand

Got this for my kids' first ever sleepover and that was a bit of an achievement on its own.. It takes a while to get it figured out and it did end up leaking. It never made actual cotton candy but it did make something. The kids enjoyed making it more than eating it. It does not come with the colored sugar so make sure to order some with it.. It comes with 1 light up wand and 3 paper cones so I suggest ordering more of them if you're hosting a party like I did.

Cra-Z-Art The Real Cotton Candy Maker has been a very fun learning experience and a very sweet bonding time with my children. It was very simple to set up and we we're making cotton candy in less than 10 minutes. I decided to use pastel pale colored sugar the pink, green, and blue showed up rather well but yellow did not. It does come with a light up wand that has a whole lot of different color settings and speeds which my 3 year old loves.

Cra-Z-Art The Real Cotton Candy Maker

The Cra-Z-Art cotton candy maker is so cool!! My kids and I opened it and used it immediately. Setup was a breeze. We only had to attach the top, plug in the cord, wait 5 minutes, and pour the sugar. We used real cane sugar. It spun the sugar out right away and we made a pretty good size cotton candy ball. My kids really enjoyed the light up wand. We were outside at 8:30pm making cotton candy and they were taking turns with the light up wand. I wish it came with several light up wands and more cotton candy paper cones. We had to take several turns with the wand to make sure everyone got to use it. I also wish it had come with maybe one or two colored sugar packets so we could have had different colored cotton candy. Our machine was really easy to clean. There was very minimal mess. I was the person in charge of pouring the sugar. It spins the sugar out right away so you really need to control the amount of sugar being poured. Overall, this was so fun to use and the cotton candy tasted great!

Love this cotton candy maker!

My son was so excited to test out this product. He especially loved the light up reusable wand. Thank goodness for that because you only get a few paper wands in this kit. Let me say it is extremely important that you use sugar that has no lumps, it needs to lump free! Otherwise the machine is not going to produce the candy. You first plug the machine in and wait for the lights to turn green and slowly add the sugar to the middle opening. Now I have to say this is mainly why I gave the product 4 stars because when you're pouring the sugar in the machine it is spitting it out all over the counter and floor. So if you can, make this an outside activity. 
Disassembly for clean up is fairly easy. The wing ding piece that comes with the set is used to unscrew the piece that holds the spout you pour the sugar into, I do not believe this piece is necessary during operation. Secondly one of the suction cups on the bottom refused to stay on the machine, not really a big deal but the machine does vibrate a lot when in use. Lastly, when attaching the base bowl to the actual machine part it can be a little tricky. There is one "tooth" piece that looks different than the other two and this piece goes opposite the two little circle on the top machine in order for it to line up and click in place.

Fun for kids but messy

I like that this cotton candy maker is easy to plug in, wait, add sugar, and make cotton candy! The directions were easy to follow. 3tsps of sugar make a decent serving of cotton candy. I used pure cane sugar, and it turned out great. The suction cups on the bottom didn't help, and the machine attempted to vibrate off my kitchen table. Clean up was simple. I wish 1 more light up wand was included. Overall, this is a good cotton candy maker.

Good Cotton Candy Maker

This Crazy Art Cotton Candy Maker is super fun for the entire family. Now for more indepth detail: it's electrical, so make sure an adult is present especially for kids under 10 years of age as stated on ther box. It's loud so be prepared for the noise. It takes about 5 minutes for the motor to warm up for the cotton making process. It has suction cups underneath the base to keep it from moving. The process of turning on the cotton candy maker is a twisting motion of the bowl, so if you move it by mistake, it will shut off and the warning process will start all over again. With just a teaspoon of sugar it makes a small amount of cotton candy, so add more to make the cotton candy fluffy. Since the bowl is small compared to carnival sized bowls, the cotton candy is small in comparison which is displayed on the box. The light up wand is super cool and colorful, but only 3 paper sticks come in the box. I highly recommend cleaning the cotton candy maker after each use. Sugar is sticky and it will get in the motor. The instructions are simple and overall it's fun to use. Use dye to color your sugar to make colorful cotton candy. Enjoy!

Crazy Cotton Candy Fun

My kids were very excited to try this at home cotton candy machine. I had a problem with the directions. It didn't explain things well enough. It took me a while to locate the ON button on the bottom of the white bowl. They need to change the color of the lettering so people can read it. The directions said to wait until the green light comes on before you put the sugar in, but it didn't tell you an estimate of time that may take. I used 1 teaspoon of sugar like it recommends but it does not give you very much cotton candy. The cotton candy itself is really crunchy and grainy. I didn't know how to turn the machine off at all, so I just unplugged it.

Okay Machine

I'd give this a higher star if it didn't take SO long to make one little ball of cotton candy and wasn't so hard to clean up afterward. Despite those factors, my son has a lot of fun watching us make cotton candy for him. He has asked us to do it every day, and we might consider his request if it didn't take so long to make it, and clean it. I wish it came with a few sample packs of cotton candy sugar with flavors, as well.
