About

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS IN CONCERT:

Christine and the Queens are already synthpop royalty in their native France, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world bows down. Androgynous project mastermind Héloïse Letissier is a visionary pop auteur in the vein of legends like David Bowie and Grace Jones, and her manifold talents – pitch-perfect singing, razor-sharp dancing, and boundary-pushing style – are on full display at the group's live shows. From the moment she takes the stage it's clear Letissier was born to perform, and the radiant energy she brings to the table is shared by her talented backing band and army of popping-and-locking backup dancers. Sleek, synth-soaked gems like "iT" and "Tilted" are punctuated by dazzling light shows and pulse-pounding choreography breaks, and through it all Letissier shines like a beacon, crackling with passion while she dances her heart out and casts her powerful voice over the crowd. For a vibrant and soulful synthpop party that pulls out all the stops, Christine and the Queens are not to be missed.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Héloïse Letissier studied theater in Lyon before a fateful trip to London sparked her interest in making music. While there she fell in with a group of drag artists who encouraged her to start singing after hearing her hum, and before long she had crowned herself Christine and the Queens – a nod to the drag queens who inspired her creative rebirth. She released her debut EP Miséricorde to French markets in 2011, following up with a string of increasingly polished EPs that earned her critical acclaim and supporting slots on tour with Lykke Li and Lilly Wood and the Prick. By 2013 she was climbing the mainstream pop charts in France, and in 2014 she won Best Female Artist at the Victoires de la Musique (the French equivalent of the Grammys). Her full-length debut, 2014's Chaleur Humaine, cracked the Top 10 in several European countries, and in 2016 it was repackaged as a self-titled debut and released in the US. Since then she's stunned stateside audiences with performances on late night TV and at major festivals like Coachella, earning an ever-growing fanbase that can't wait to catch her on tour.

    An incredible and mesmerizing performer

by Aidan on 4/20/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

With no dancers and no extravagant background visuals, Chris put on a phenomenal show. It was impossible to take your eyes off them. I brought a friend who had no prior exposure to Chris and they left enamored. A must-see!

    Great show

by Yeehabubba on 4/20/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

I can tell you this was one of the best concerts I’ve attended. Music was great and venue were top notch. I just discovered this artist because they popped in my feed less than a year ago. It was some of the best music and theatrical performance I’ve witnessed.

    Amazing stage presence

by Nat on 4/20/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Wow what a vocalist and amazing stage presence. He has a very theatrical style so you really felt the music even more intensely. It’s up there as one of the best shows I’ve seen. I’m not religious and it felt like church!!!!

    Christine and the Queens

by Nichole86 on 10/30/18The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Chris put on one hell of a show. It was the best show I’ve ever been to, hands down. It was minimalist in design but unlike anything I’ve ever seen. She’s so full of raw powerful emotion. We were all shocked at how much the show surpassed our expectations! I can hardly wait to see her again.

    Outstanding show

    by 12345timz on 10/29/18Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

"Chris" is a terrific performer - charismatic, charming, beautiful, and unique. More than a concert, Christine & the Queens give you a show. Each number is carefully staged with choreography, staging, and drops. The mood swings from exuberant to intimate. The dancing (including Chris) is fantastic, with each dance tailored to the song. As a veteran of thousands of concerts, I have concluded that it is rarely enough (esp. in a beautiful theater like the Fox) to stand on stage and emote. This is an excellent show - if it comes your way, see it!

    Tilted

by joetsunami on 10/29/18Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Christine and the Queens is one of my favorite new discoveries. There was more pre recorded backing vocals than I expected but then I realized they were dancing nearly the entire time and this IS pop music after all. I loved her personality, openness and just realness. I will try and buy tickets to see her whenever she returns. This was also my 13 year old sons first concert and we had a great time. Their dancing was incredible and Héloïse Letissier‘s vocals, spirit and performance was amazing! Thank you!!!

Oui Oui - Come back !!

by Vicky22 on 11/8/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Yes...the USA is finally noticing Christine and the Queens! Heloise's song writing, singing and live performances are total satisfaction. I first heard her music while watching the end credits of the HBO series GIRLS (season 5). It caught my ears immediately. After the help of SoundHound & Google...I never looked back. What a talent! The Paradise Rock Club was a great backdrop for an intimate & personal concert. Her English is impeccable. She's at ease talking with the crowd. The dance moves were unique and choreographed well even on the smaller stage. The only suggestion I'd add - add some COLOR! Too much black - black shirts, black pants, black shoes, black instruments, black stage. Can't wait for her return to the States!

Great show, but a couple of disappointments

by Alinjersey on 10/24/16Terminal 5 - New York

Bottom line, the show itself was great- exactly what I expected, having watched the full concerts on youtube many times before in preparation.. But I did have two complains that had NOTHING to do with Heloise's performance, the music, or her dancers. Before taking this seriously, though, keep in mind that I was an anomaly at this concert- I am a nearly 60 year old from suburban New Jersey (I know, "Really?") So first, not a fan of standing in a crowd for a full hour before the concert begins. Second, not a fan of the style of music of the opening act. But what's a Baby Boomer to do when he chooses to attend a concert basically attracting Millennials? All in all, still worth it!
