- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020I've been experimenting with small tweaks to my swing and grip, and I found that taking videos of myself at the driving range was very helpful in identifying issues that I needed to address. I was curious how these adjustments to my technique might affect swing speed, ball speed, etc., and that's what led me to the Mevo. I did quite a bit of research on the product, comparing it to others like the Swing Caddie.
The feature that sold me on the Mevo was the ability to capture video with an overlay of stats, and that has turned out to be the killer feature for me. It automatically captures and trims video snippets of each individual swing, then saves it to your device. I no longer need to scrub through 30 minutes of video, zooming in to try and figure out which club I was using, and searching for those one or two swings where I felt like things went right (or wrong). Now, I get one video per swing, with a (configurable) number of seconds before and after the swing. I can use the app to scroll through a table of swings for a session, with each row identifying the club, carry, smash factor, etc. This allows me to quickly review and assess the results of a session, and makes it easy to go back and see how I've improved over time.
I'm very impressed with this product. It's reasonably accurate, and the app and device are much more reliable than I anticipated. It only takes me about a minute to get it set up. Then, other than telling the app when I change clubs, or stopping occasionally to review the video of the previous swing, I don't have to fiddle with it at all. I just focus on my swing, then go home and review the results.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2019If you buy this expecting it to do as well and be as accurate as a trackman, you will be disappointed. It's a $500 unit meant to be something affordable for us golf junkies. For me, it was exactly what I thought it would be and more.
I had read a lot about the mevo since it's release. I've been tempted to get it since it became available but waited. I was super eager to take it out to the range to test it out. Overall, I was very impressed with the results.
I believe that it's really important to know carry distance and launch angles. Up until now I had only received some of this data from the launch monitors at the golf shop. But this little device gives these numbers and so much more. I have it setup to give these 2 figures plus smash, ball speed, spin and club head speed. I was very surprised when it was picking up spin without the use of the silver dots. It caught a spin number on over 90% of the balls hit at the range session. And I think those numbers were pretty accurate.
I have to say that it's not perfect. There were some shots that might have gone a little left or right that might have given slightly skewed numbers. But overall, it was really good. Clubs were traveling the numbers I felt I was hitting. It even became super fun to try and feel a distance and then try and hit that distance. Competing with my son brought those good old competitive juices right to the brink. Dang kid kept beating me. Then we tried the hit a ball and guess the number. Again, pretty accurate.
The app stores each range session for review later. It automatically notes the date and time you started your session and the number of swings captured during the session. There is a chart that it could generate showing each balls flight and decent path. That was neat to see. You do have to tell the Mevo what club you are hitting. It will do the rest to sort out the data based on the club you are hitting. It was pretty fun exploring all the details on there. Felt like I could become a YouTuber and post some of the results.
The next time I'm out, I might sort out the session but short, long irons, woods and then drivers. That way, I can focus more on the different aspects of the game and see the charts a little more clearly. Angle of decent and the affects of spin will show better on the chart doing it this way. There's still a lot more to this app that I haven't explored. I've read it's supposed to talk to you though I haven't explored that as of yet.
Don't expect the world from this little thing. It won't deliver but if you want something to help improve your game, a solid training aid, this little device will do just fine. I'm eager to setup my hitting net and get some spin numbers off my wedges with my own ball.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2019This is a great product that does exactly what I expected it to do. The setup was a snap on both my iPhone and iPad. After charging up the battery I drove to the driving range, setup the Mevo, setup my iPhone and started hitting with my 7 iron. The ability to review my stats and view the video of each swing was invaluable. You can customize how and where the data is displayed on the screen. For me the most import items are club speed, Launch angle, apex height, spin rate, carry, and smash factor. I also set it up so it gave a verbal report of Carry after each shot. The unit is super easy to use and I love that I can go home and review it all on my iMac. For a 69-year old amateur like me this is everything I need in a launch monitor.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2020The Mevo provides you key information to help you better hit a golf ball. It measures club head speed, ball speed, ball rotation speed, and launch angle. It calculates smash factor, carry distance, and total distance. I’ve taken the Mevo onto the golf course and hit shots during a practice round to measure its accuracy, and have found it to be within a few yards of the estimated distance. This tells me that the ball rotation and club head speed must be pretty close.
The devise is small. It fits into my pocket, albeit with a bulge. It’s very transportable.
It’s easy to set up. It syncs with my iPhone 7 quickly. I’ve tried my iPad as well, but unfortunately although it syncs, it didn’t register any swings, but that could have been operator error (it was late at night, and there may have been intoxicants involved).
Overall, I’m very pleased with the gadget. Now maybe I’ll be able to vanquish my friends. They’ll never know what hit them!

Tested speeds, spin, carry etc against more expensive units = same numbers across range of clubs. Highest value has been with the short irons 8 through to 58deg wedges: confidence in how to produce desired result
