great bit of kitAnonymous reviewerworks great, easy to use and easy to adjust, it could do wiith a bit of a thicker setting as others have said, but as for the reviews saying doesn't work or hard to adjust - this is not the item for you, give up before natural selection teaches you a hard lesson and you lose a perfectly even slice of finger or thumb. these things need to be treated with respect for what they are.
the price for what you get is outstanding, most places are double this price and non adjustable.

Worth a try! Anonymous reviewerI've had a number of Mandoline's and thought for the price this was well worth a try. Yes it's good, with an "adjustable gap" so that you can have thicker or thinner slices. It's not the easiest adjustment to make, but can be done. I also think it would have been a idea to supply it with a catch box, or to make it suitable to fit on top of IKEA's brilliant plastic storage boxes. But overall, worth a try.

slice in a triceAnonymous reviewerNifty little mandolin. Sliced up a carrot evenly and super quickly. Warning: use the guard; the blade is sharp! I can understand why some people may have thought the mandolin doesn't slice. The clever design to adjust the thickness setting consists of a rotatable bar on the underside of the slicer. It is numbered 0 to 3 and you rotate it to get differing thicknesses: 1 being the thinnest, 3 the thickest. If you throw the packaging away before you see the back advisory information you might not know this. It's set to the safety setting initially and trying to slice on this setting will not work. Having said that, I had some fun testing the settings. This product is affordable and does the job. I have yet to test it on other foods but it can certainly handle solid foods like root vegetables, potatoes and celery. It has a lip on the underside that would suggest it could fit into a specific container, but there is no suggestion what product it could be matched with.
