Dry immediately.</li> <li>Season your cast iron cookware - Rub with a thin light coat of vegetable oil after every wash.</li> <li>COOKING WITH CAST IRON COOKWARE</li> <li>Your cast iron cookware can be used on induction, ceramic, electric, and gas cooktops, in your oven, on the grill, or even over the campfire. Do not use it in the microwave.</li> <li>Note: On glass or ceramic cooktops, lift cookware; never slide it.</li> <li>Note: Use metal, wood, or hi-temp silicone utensils.</li> <li>Note: Some foods may stick to new cookware (especially eggs). Use a little extra oil or butter until you've built up the seasoning on your cast iron cookware.</li> <li>Note: Acidic foods like tomatoes, beans, and certain sauces can damage the seasoning finish and should be avoided until the seasoning is well-established.</li> <li>Note: Cast Iron rarely needs to go above a medium heat setting when properly pre-heated. For the times when you do cook at higher temperatures, bring the pan to temperature gradually and add oil to it just before adding food to prevent sticking.</li> <li>Note: Cookware handles get hot; use mitts. Use trivets to protect countertops from hot cookware.</li> <li>CLEANING</li> <li>After first use let it cool and wipe it down with a clean dry cloth or paper towel. If you prefer to use soap, then wash with mild soapy water and dry thoroughly and oil (season) immediately.</li> <li>Note: Dishwashers, strong detergents, and metal scouring pads are not recommended, as they remove the seasoning.</li> <li>RUST</li> <li>Without protective seasoning, iron can rust when exposed to air.</li> <li>To remove any rust buildup, scour the rust, rinse, dry, and rub with a little vegetable oil.</li> <li>If the problem persists, you will need to thoroughly remove all rust and follow the re-seasoning instructions (below).</li> <li>RE-ESTABLISHING YOUR SEASONED FINISH</li> <li>Regularly cleaning as directed and maintaining the seasoning on your cookware should keep your Cast Iron in good condition, however, at some point, you may need to re-season your cookware. If food sticks to the surface or you notice a dull, gray color, repeat the seasoning process:</li> <li>Wash the cookware with hot, soapy water and a stiff brush.</li> <li>Rinse and dry completely.</li> <li>Apply a very thin, even coating of vegetable cooking oil of your choice to the cookware inside and out. Avoid using too much oil as it will result in a sticky finish.</li> <li>Place aluminum foil on the bottom rack of the oven (not directly on the bottom) to catch any drips.</li> <li>Set oven temperature to 350. 400 degrees F.</li> <li>Place cookware upside down on the top rack of the oven to prevent pooling.</li> <li>Bake the cookware for at least one hour. I like the pans I bought some from Walmart years ago at a slightly higher price, so when I saw these I bought them, I ordered these at 6am this morning and they was left at my doorstep at 10:20am

Nice good product

I have been using the Ozark Trail 8 Cast Iron Skillet several times within the short amount of time that I have owned it. Even though this cast iron is skillet is smaller than what I've used before, it is very mighty!

Cooking evenly with this cast iron skillet by Ozark is great. The pancakes that were made for breakfast was cook with consistency. Also, the smokey links that were cooked were as well. I have also made fajitas several times as well. This cast iron skillet is vert versatile. I plan on making cornbread next in this.

Small, But Mighty

Beautiful, heavy cast iron pan. I Love it. It is my first cast iron skillet, I didn't realize how much care goes in a pan like this but its well worth it. After seasoning a couple of times, and learning that you do not wash it with soap. The pan is great! I can't wait to experiment more taking it from the stove to the oven.

Well crafted pan

I received the Ozark trail 8” cast iron skillet and I love it. I have always wanted one! I remember when I was younger this is all my mom and grandma would use to cook but anymore it's hard to find them. This one was a little smaller than I imagined but it still works just as great! I love that it basically never wears and will last forever. When washing this is says that it's recommended that you just wash with warm water and a sponge nothing abrasive. And that you shouldn't use soap on this. If you want more info on how to keep this up and looking in great condition there are instructions all over the Internet. But I love how this cooks the food. It's almost as if it gives it a little extra flavor or crispy and I love that! I also think that is is a VERY reasonably priced for how good of a pan this is. I'm going to have to purchase more in larger sizes. Another benefit is that if comes seasoned. This brand itself is very reliable and I'm very excited to continue to cook with this pan. I recommend this product to anyone that likes to cook!

Iron skillet

I remember my mother and father using cast iron skillets when I was younger, and they always loved them. Actually they had been inherited from their parents. My sister took them after our parents passed. Cast iron just never wears out! I have gone through so many sets of pots and pans over the years. I was very frustrated and actually looking at purchasing cast iron when I received an offer for a cast iron skillet as part of the Walmart Spark Reviewer Program. Perfect timing! I chose the Ozark Trail 8" skillet as I did not have anything that size. I was pleased to see that this one comes pre-seasoned...which is something important to do when using cast iron. The directions say to wash in warm water with a sponge...nothing abrasive, as it will remove the seasoning. You also do not use soap on a cast iron skillet. There are sites all over the internet that give instructions and tips for caring for cast iron. The site I am using suggests that if there is stuck on food, use Kosher salt and water to help clean it off. Then dry the item and using a little cooking oil to help keep the cast ironed seasoned. You can also buy special brushes for cleaning cast iron. I used my cast iron pan for the first time tonight to cook a hamburger. I washed the pan, added a little oil, and fried my hamburger. It turned out great. It did not stick. After dinner, I added a little kosher salt to the bottom of the pan and used a kitchen sponge to clean with the kosher salt and water. The pan came out like new...and the hamburger was delicious. I then dried the pan and rubbed the inside of the pan with a little cooking oil and a paper towel. Perfect and ready for next time! I would not hesitate to recommend this cast iron pan to anyone.

Absolutely Love This Cast Iron Skillet!

I love this cast iron skillet !!! It's so well made and it's already seasoned and that's awesome! I made a meatloaf and it turned out great. Can't wait to take it camping in the summer!! because it can be used outdoors also!! I highly recommend this product.

Cooking with cast Iron!

This Ozark Trail 8 cast iron skillet is great. It cooked evenly and clean up was easy. Handle got hot but I believe that is normal. I've not ever had any cast iron before. It was pre seasoned so that was helpful. Overall, I'm excited to see what other creations I can cook up.

Great skillet

Will this cause issues in the future? I have a feeling it delaminated the whole pan. I think it's damaged permanently after this. Idk how to prevent the adhesive from removing the layer of the pan? 🍳

Adhesive Issue

I have received this product as part of the Spark Reviewer program.

This is a pretty decent cast iron skillet. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because the size is not great for me. The most you can cook in this is a couple of eggs, a sandwich, or a small cut of meat. (See pics of size and cooking a chicken breast.) I would think this pan would be great for a single person though.

After seasoning, this pan performs as well as the name brand, more expensive pans. Disclaimer: it says it is pre-seasoned, but please check the internet for the proper procedure for seasoning prior to use. Care and cleaning of any cast iron product is a bit more than wash and wear. Proper care and seasoning enhances the use of this pan.

One more important note. Cast iron skillets are heavy. Please use care on a glass cook top to lift and not slide the pan or you may risk damage to your cook top.

When unpacking, the glue from the label can't be removed, so I soaked it in water for a few hours and it all went rusty
