About

HOT CHIP IN CONCERT:

Hot Chip lights up the dance floor every time they take the stage to deliver their inventive, synthesizer-driven take on electronic pop. In addition to traditional instruments like guitar, bass, and drums, this British septet incorporates a bevy of synths, drum machines, and unexpected samples to produce their infectious grooves in concert. The resulting sound is monumentally funky, endearingly quirky, and impossible to deny. Dance floor anthems like “Don’t Deny Your Heart”, “How Do You Do It?”, and “Burning Up” are guaranteed to have you shaking your booty and breaking a sweat. Hot Chip is taking their discotheque-meets-art-gallery vibe on tour to promote their 2015 album Why Make Sense?, promising ticket buyers a freaky dance party they won’t be able to resist.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Alexis Taylor (lead vocals/guitar/synths) and Joe Goddard (vocals/synths/percussion) founded Hot Chip while attending Cambridge University in 2000. By the time of their 2004 full-length debut Coming on Strong, the duo had added Owen Clark (guitar/bass/synths), Al Doyle (guitar/synths/percussion), and Felix Martin (drum machines/percussion) to their live performances. The new members contributed to the band’s 2008 album Made in the Dark, which featured popular singles like “Shake a Fist” and heralded a new echelon of success for the group. Hot Chip added Rob Smoughton (backing vocals/bass/guitar/percussion) and Sarah Jones (drums) to round out their performing lineup, with both becoming official members shortly thereafter. The band maintains a rigorous touring and recording schedule, and while they might look like they’re playing musical chairs as they trade instruments on stage, they maintain a lively and cohesive sound that has thrilled audiences around the world.

Great night - confusing tite for the show

by 27 Hill Group on 2/4/24Echoplex - Los Angeles

The event poped up as a concert in my feed. BUT it was actually a DJ set from a few members of Hot Chip. The music they spun was great! But it was not a live show :[

    Boogie

by NineHoeNine on 10/2/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

This is the type of group that will have you dancing their whole set! We enjoyed every second of it and the lights were on point. First time seeing them was at Just like Heaven and I just knew I had to see them again.

    So much fun!

    by C.L. on 10/1/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

One of my favorites! All their songs can be danced to. Amazing stage presence. Felt like a big party and everyone was smiling and dancing. One of the most fun shows I've been to.

    Loved it

by Johnny on 6/5/239:30 CLUB - Washington

The legendary 930 club lives on. I will be back soon. Hot Chip was excellent. They killed the new music. Energy and sound were perfect. Some of the older hits (2006), it seemed like they were tired of doing them. Still good but with a "going through the motions" feel. I would see them again.

    Rave Party

by Kulit on 5/30/23Moore Theatre - Seattle

Didn't expect to be fun, different vibes of music, great sound, full pack house and different sound when it's live music.

Hot chip at the Moore theater

by Hankulese on 5/24/23Moore Theatre - Seattle

Show was just Ok. The sound quality was muffled. I think they must be more of a studio or possibly outdoor event band then a live indoor band. Also it was incredibly stuffy in that venue.

The Moore really shouldn’t host concerts

by Marty on 5/22/23Moore Theatre - Seattle

Great band, good long set list, just wish the vocals were turned down a little as they were a lot louder than the music. Other than that they really should have gone with a different venue. The Moore theater has chairs but everyone was standing up (trying) to dance and the chairs just took up space needlessly. All the aisles were full of moshing and (thankfully) the bouncers had totally given up. I’ve seen a lot of comedians and authors here too, and the venue works fine for that! Not for dance music!

    Loved seeing Hot Chip!

    by Andrea Z. on 5/6/22Tabernacle - Atlanta

I have been a fan for 10+ years but have never previously seen them live; they were well worth the wait! They had so much energy and kept the crowd dancing the entire time. We’d go see them again for sure!
