- BundyClubBundanoon, Australia541 contributionsUnlikely to Visit AgainWe were in St Ives so we thought we would go to the Tate. It seemed an iconic place to visit. I was very disappointed as it contained not very much at all. I kept thinking we must have missed a gallery or two but we hadn’t. We didn’t have time for a tour which may have improved our experience. The views from inside were good. Unlikely to visit again.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 April 2023
- Beverly M6 contributionsMassive disappointmentAfter visiting many times Tate Britain and Tate Modern, this was a real let down..to having to pay to enter and the current exhibition on Moroccan art, which was boring. We were looking forward to seeing the art that the other Tates contributed to Tate St Ives. We even had a list. Surprise! Hardly anything at all. We noticed so many blank spaces where more art could have been placed. Had some coffee upstairs in the cafe.. Huge disappointment. I guess we will just stick with the London Tates.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 July 2023
- cat2Leeds159 contributionsOverpriced and poor exhibits.I can’t really add anything that other people haven’t already said regarding the Tate St Ives. It is overpriced and the exhibits aren’t great. Cafe was very poor. Worst cream tea I’ve ever had - mass produced scones and mediocre coffee. The best thing about this gallery is the view of the beach and ocean. I wish I’d read the reviews beforehand and saved myself some money!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 September 2023
- prose561 contributionsDisappointingIt is unfortunate that the expansion of Tate St Ives has failed to show the impact nationally and internationally of the St Ives School, many of whose paintings can be seen at Tate Britain. Despite that, so much more could have been done to present the works of Heron, Lanyon, Scott etc. and also Hepworth since many visitors may be unaware of her nearby garden and of her international significance. This is a gallery that feels awkward about its own identity - the impression is that it wants to be a mini Tate Modern. That just won’t work.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 6 October 2023
- Richard G2 contributionsReally disappointingReally disappointing and overpriced. Been here before a few years ago and enjoyed it. The exhibition seemed smaller and less relevant, didn't include the Barbera Hepworth exhibition which would have cost extra. And there were no chairs tables for the rooftop cafe, which is lively in nice weather. Will not come back.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 October 2023
- LeeLiverpool, United Kingdom635 contributionsGood but not freeWe had a great visit but I was surprised at disappointed that there was a rather substantial charge just to enter the regular galleries. These are free at all other Tate venues. The ten minute talk by David was excellent, he was so knowledgeable and friendly. I also really liked the cafe and shop.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 March 2024

Went last week to see the new exhibition: Sámi artist Outi Pieski’s work is full of vibrant colour and thought provoking imagery, always love looking at the other galleries of Cornish work in context. Staff are lovely and it was a great visit, excellent value with the locals pass.

Went last week to see the new temporary exhibition by Sámi artist Outi Pieski. It's a super exhibition, seemed a lot of thought had been put in to how it was curated. Nicely laid out, plenty of explanation but not overwhelming. Both this and the last temporary exhibition have been outward-looking, featuring work from outside the UK, and been quite deep dives. Living in the far South West can sometimes feel a bit isolating, and I commend the Tate for it's global perspective. Was fairly busy but still quiet enough to contemplate the work. Very enjoyable visit. Oh and it was welcoming too.

Excellent location and super exhibition - airy, nicely curated and great local and international collection. Fabulous tea-rooms, and nice shop. Overall, nice afternoon out.

I thought more from the coach would arrive but no one else did. Everso difficult to find but only ÂŁ1 admission and a free Casablanca face paint. The staff were anxious to pkease. Greeted by a chorus of HELLO and smiles from all corners of the reception area.
Watched a strange performance by 3 young people in different coloured overalls who wore bits of cardboard on their heads and carried painted bits of cardboard. Hmmyah. But I gave it a clap for their enthusiasm. Quite a big audience. They clapped too. Then I noticed that I was the only person without an ID lanyard. Everyone else was staff. I was the only member of the public. Privileged or wot
Enjoyed the tactile Barbara Hepworth piece. Oops. Don't touch. Sorry

We visited to look at the new gallery space that’s opened and its well worth the visit. It’s got a great collection of Barbara Hepworth’s work and you can get an expanded ticket to go and see the Hepworth Museum which is nearby, which i highly recommend to visitors.

A good gallery but to be honest I expected more. The poorest of the state galleries. Some interesting exhibits but all in all a bit thin on content. Building is in a great location but feels tired.

The staff were very accommodating prior to our arrival, I needed a wheelchair for my mum and one was out aside for our visit.
Reasonably priced.
The art was beautiful, definitely worth a visit if you're in St.Ives.
We caught a train using the park and ride which again is highly recommended due to the roads being narrow and parking very limited.

Why do you charge to look round the non exhibition spaces when all the other Tate’s do not?

I agree, we were very disappointed also by the non-refundable ÂŁ1 just to use the locker!
