Great tablet minor flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see all the negative reviews and let me tell you about mine: Pros: Clean android Linux Shell 16GB RAM Cons: Price Case Keyboard I am a linux admin and am looking for a good 2 in 1. I think I found it! Yes it is not perfect but being able to apt-get install $APPNAME and have it work is amazing. ChromeOS is great too. IT i It's light and easy to carry; USB-C means peripheral heaven (dock, external monitor, etc). The keyboard case blows, you can't use it on your lap, does not protect at all, the tablet moves etc. Feel Free to ask any questions but i absolutely love it!

So far so great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the pixel slate to replace a Samsung tablet and to allow more productivity, as the slate can function both as a tablet and Chromebook. So far, it has done everything I ask of it. I haven't done anything crazy like install Linux through Crostini (yet) but I have had no complaints. A couple Android applications are a little fickle, but they didn't like to work with my Android tablet either. Paired with the Bridge G-type Bluetooth keyboard, this had been a great purchase!

Not for everyone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My primary uses for this are reading comic books (comixology), web browsing, technical document reading on the android side. And software development, network administration, and other Linux applications. The device works great for both, but there are two many things still in development to recommend to a normal user. Linux does not have GPU acceleration yet and the menu bars are a little 'off' from a normal debian distro. Way too much containerization for my preferences, but the device is powerful enough to dual boot a full Linux distro and in the future, even a windows partition for the more heavy use cases. One of the best things about ChromeOS is also the worst. The security gets in the way of itself at every turn and locks out many features from the Linux container as well as the android side. It is great if that is your primary concern, but for me it is just annoying. On the android side, it is awesome for media consumtion video, reading, commix etc. I loaded some emulators and it runs them all great with one problem, none of the android compatible gamepads I have work. This is something in the ChromeOS side and not with the gamepad manufatures themselves. I love the hardware, but can't recommend this to a less edge use case crowd until the software catches up. Luckily, they update constantly, so it may not be long.

Love my Slate, Finally after updates
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started out rough but with updates the cracking speaker sound is gone as well as all lag. Keyboard case is awesome. My favorite tablet I ever owed. The full version of Chrome is awesome. I would highly recommend.

Way too buggy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own every device created----ipad, pixebook, iphone, pixel, note, surface go/book/studio, etc, etc. Big budget for devices so cost doesn't bother. However, at this price I expect buttery smooth performance and this tablet fails that expectation. Lots of bugs and lag really hinder this device. Google desperately wants to be like Apple making their own hardware. This is not even close---software or hardware. The tablet is a bit awkward to hold---slippery and quite dense/heavy. The screen reflection comes off cheap somehow. However, it's the crappy touch responsiveness that sinks this log for sure. Lots of stutter especially compared to using the trackpad on the slate's keyboard. This is a beta test I don't want to be a part of---and certainly not at this price. Google executives just need to give up and let the pros handle hardware. This is a disaster. Save you money or get an ipad---you'll lose the full Chrome experience of course, which is the only the Slate has going for it.

Speakers crackle so much at normal volume
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know about this device... I've had it for several days now and I notice when it's "warming up" the speakers make cracking noises, I don't know why this happens. It does resolve itself after a few mins but I wouldn't have expected poor hardware as such.

Best 2 in one device! When you get the keyboard.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pixel slate has great laptop features with the pixel slate keyboard. Beautiful screen fast processors and it is very responsive. Great choice if you feel the iPad is too expensive.
