About

As a Swedish death metal band that mainly pens and performs songs about Viking history and lore, it makes absolute sense that their name is in the fictional language of Sindarin (created by J. R. R. Tolkien) and translates into “Mount Doom”—the volcano in Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth. It’s also fitting that Johan Hegg (vocals), Olavi Mikkonen (guitar), Johan Söderberg (guitar), Ted Lundström (bass) and Fredrik Andersson play über-loud hit songs like “Death In Fire,” “Thousand Years of Oppression,” “Without Fear,” “A Fury Divine” and “Risen From the Sea” with as much speed and vigor as wielded by the almighty hammer of Thor. Legions of death metal fans have been grabbing concert tickets since the early ‘90s to witness the fire and fury of Amon Amarth LIVE on stage, performing music that the band’s website describes as “a compelling fusion of buzzsaw riff work, melodic harmonies and soul-crushing rhythms.” Amon Amarth frequently play at metal festivals around the globe and tour with other top-notch death metal acts like Goatwhore, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch.

Over the course of their career, Amon Amarth have played at venues like Arizona Federal Theatre, and have brought The Fillmore (Philadelphia), The Fillmore (Detroit), The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity.

    Amon Amarth at RMA

by Daryl on 9/13/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

This is the 3rd time that I have seen Anon Amarth and they killed it, as usual. I wish I could say the same about the venue. Riverside Municipal Auditorium is a cool place to see a band, but the sound system sucks! This is the second show that I’ve seen there and I couldn’t hardly hear the vocals over the drums. Either the acoustics are bad, or the sound guy is deaf. I probably won’t go there again.

    True Viking Experience

by Bearded Pit Warrior on 9/12/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

I've always loved Amon Amarth's music as soon as I heard them. Seeing them live, being in the pit is a whole experience though! The stage looked amazing, (big shoutout to the crew) the actors battling on stage, the interaction with the crowd, and the people there all made it one of the best shows I've ever been to!

    Killer Show!

by GreighWolf on 9/12/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

Mid size venue, Great sound! Amon Amarth Killed it, and their opener GateCreeper did a hell of a show! the venders being "cashless"for the event is unacceptable and will definitely effect attendance in the future as is life threatening in that you could not get water when systems malfunctioned.

    Band was good…

by Steph on 9/12/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

Amon Amarth was amazing. However the rest of the entire venue sucked. There was no clear indication about what time the show started or what time doors open so we were waiting outside for over an hour and a half in line. The floor was overcrowded. They did not have attendants checking tickets and putting people where they were supposed to be so we had to stand in the aisle all the way in the back, aside from being overcrowded, entirely too hot I left with my arm in a cast with a sprained wrist I needed to go to the ER the next day for x-rays to make sure it wasn’t broken. Overall.Amon Amarth was great, will not be back to the location ever again.

Thanks for keeping me motivated! Vikings forever! I really liked Amon and I’m glad I got introduced to them live in a show!! Once in a life time! Would definitely go again!

    New to the Band

    by Tyler S. on 8/25/23

This was my first time seeing this band and I was not disappointed. I’d heard of Amon Amarth but had never listened to them until last night. When I saw they were opening for Ghost, I decided not to listen to them until the concert, so I could be surprised. They were great. They’re very passionate about their music and I love their sound and energy. They put on an amazing show and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of their discography. Will definitely be going to see them again.

    Absolutely amazing.

    by Jen.L on 2/13/23

Amon Amarth killed it! They even sound better live! The atmosphere at the Sylvee was amazing. The only issue I had was I paid almost $600 for 2 to get The Great Heathen Army experience. There was a photo op with them but literally it was a minute maybe a minute and half. Had just enough time to take the photo and fist bump Johan H. Which I will admit was awesome. But I would have loved to at least say hi to the rest of the band.
