How does this new model compare to previous versions?

Surface Laptop 2 features a faster 8th Generation Intel Core processor, compared to the previous model's 7th Generation processor. The luxurious Alcantara material covering is retained from the previous model, but it's now available in matte black.

Superior design
Its Signature Alcantara® covered keyboard and palm rest provide luxury warmth and feel when you type. It is specially treated to resist spills, stains and absorption, and can be wiped clean. The Surface Laptop 2 has a compact aluminium shell for lightweight strength.

Stunning screen
Boasting a resolution of 2256 x 1504 (201ppi) to guarantee photos, videos and documents on the vibrant 13.5-inch PixelSense™ display with interactive touchscreen appears bright and easy to read. The Surface Laptop 2 features Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 to protect the screen. It's also compatible with Microsoft Surface Pro Pen (available to purchase separately), giving you precision control when writing or drawing.

Intel’s 8th-generation i7 processor is designed to make your laptop faster and more efficient. Your laptop’s overall productivity will show improvement as flawless multi-tasking and playback of 2K Ultra-HD video will occur without delay or interruption. The processor also features a 'Turbo Boost' which will unleash more power when you need it, so you can handle more programs and intensive tasks without your laptop slowing down.

The additional 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD) gives you the capacity to store your documents and media, while ensuring fast and dependable access to your files and programs. SSDs are much faster than regular hard drives, and don't use moving parts to work, making them more reliable and quieter.
